  • I was lucky and was migrated to e7-reserve just over a week ago, and apart form 1 glitch I have been getting great service - a speed test showed me getting 1700KB/second (bytes not bits) - this would appear to be a fair bit faster than the 1M service I have paid for !

E7 have changed the e7broadband.com gateway IP today, so it's worth trying it again.

Some people may have to re-boot.

Of course if you have authentication problems, (not working with any of the bt_test_user@ logons) then E7 will have to sort it from their end.
Thanks. I'll try again when I get home. Pity they can't reply to Support Tickets or update their site.

  • I rang OTELO on 0845 050 1614 on Wednesday morning asking if they could help me get my MAC code and got an e-mail from e0.7 today with it in. Result! When I originally rang Otelo, I was asked, like Bikebounder, whether I had gone through e7's complaints procedure. I just said that as I had had no service for a month, that they didn't respond to e-mails or answer the phone that I had done all that I reasonably could. Give them a go would be my advice.

This is a totally unreasonable speed test result.

Broadband is ALWAYS supplied and quoted in bits 1Mb,2Mb,8Mb etc. 1700Kb/second (bits) would be a fraction slower than a 2Mb connection (my 2Mb connection normally runs at 1850Kb to 1920Kb as an average). It would be reasonable to consider that your line has been upgraded to 2Mb.

The problem is that if the result really is 1700KB (bytes), this would equate to 13600Kb (about a 15Mb connection). The absolute fastest on a BT line with their new ADSL Max technology is an 8Mb connection, unless you are on a LLU connection (even this would only be maximum 8Mb with the Easynet service E7 is using). This result would be pretty much impossible.

Mike, I think the results of your speedtest is wrong, and it really should be 1700Kb (bits), this would look like a 2Mb connection you are on. Try a few different speedtests to compare results.

  • You could indeed be right Rex - It may be that the speed test site was wrong.

I think I must have been upgraded (even though both e7 and BT say my line will not support 2M though I have neighbours on 2M already !)

I wish I could try other speedtest sites but I have been hit by a java problem for the last few weeks and cannot run any java applets. I have even re-installed java, created a new user account etc. Others have the same problem but nobody seems to have a fix yet !

I am about to lose my marbles. I cannot get connected, I cannot get a response of any description from e7even. I haven't got the time to wait on dial up to read over 100 emails.

When I clicked on the links mentioned above the computer asked me did I want to connect, I didn't think it was supposed to do that or am I wrong?? I just wish this was all sorted and I had my broadband back.

Has anyone else had no connection from Tuesday?

Yes! I am experiencing the longest period of disconnection so far. Nothing since Tuesday. I'm paying per dialup (E7even's free numbers don't work) It's costing a bomb. I do hope E7even is going to compensate us generously when/if all this is sorted!

Glad I am not the only one or I would be thinking that I had messed up the computer!!

Have been without internet since 09.01.06 and the last time their customer services phoned me was 23 days ago. They informed me everything would be back to normal within ten days, I wish.

Cannot put into words what I think of their service. All of this trouble has been caused by themselves and yet they do nothing to help customers.

  • I was off from the begining of Jan. and had a friend check their site as I could not get on the internet by any means and said that I should of recived an email, so he checked my account web mail and there was nothing. this went on for weeks and had cost me dear with calls to them that no one answered. Then one morning having had the same message customer and tech.services I left a very fraught message demanding my money back and in an hour or two I had a very helpful Scott who gave me a dial up number and said if I had to use it cos of broadband failure to send e7 the bill and they would pay, anyway he rang me twice a day for a few days while sorting out my bandband connection and apart from the odd hour at the beginning my connection has been good, mind you I always hold my breath when its connecting. I can post the dial up no. if anyone would care to try it.
