  • Me either, it doesn't make you feel like getting out of bed or doing anything for that matter.

I guess I should go and get something done now otherwise I'll be sat here when it's time to get DS.
  • Another day and another step closer to DH’s pay day.

Should theoretically be a NSD today as I do not need to venture out thus no need to spend any money…so far.

Shopping is being delivered today; I need to rethink when it gets delivered as most mornings during the week I am out and in the afternoons I need to collect DS so unless delivery is early evening, the only other option is a Saturday morning.

I didn’t list anything on e-bay yesterday or clean the fridge for that matter :o so today I plan to have a look at ebid (thanks Karmacat) and clean the oven and microwave.

I need to do the thank you letters from the children for the presents they received at Christmas so they can be posted tomorrow, one sure way to ensure that DH and I won’t be criticised by his siblings.

    Have a fun day everyone.

    Hi there!

I'm not sure about ebid - its won awards, blah blah, but I only started listing on it last week, on items that I expect to take a fair old time to sell, so I don't have any experience, I'm afraid.

I think early evenings are most popular for supermarket deliveries - I presume thats families a bit older than yours, where maybe the mum works part time. But it makes sense, doesn't it - making the tea is when you can be guaranteed to be in, whereas during the day you want to make the most of your time (if you're not huddled in front of the fire, like me!)

Families ..... they can be very ug, good luck with those thank you letters.

  • It’s Friday and the end of the first full week for both DH and DS, although DH is working tomorrow at the flying club

Today will not be a NSD unfortunately as DD and I have playgroup this morning, which although is accounted for in the budget, we need to nip to Tesco’s to get some bits and bobs…I am pleasantly pleased that I have managed three NSD so far and any day that I do not spend is always a good thing.

I have ordered the shopping for next week and have done it through Tesco for a change, not only that but I got a mail shot through that told me I would get 1000 extra points on my first shop if I ordered online with them, all goes towards next Christmas :D

DH gave me two £1 coins last night for the terramundi, I have told him that any £2 coins now go in the money pot and only £1 coins go in the terramundi until it is full, so it was nice to put something in.

DH has taken his lunch all week this week, so that’s a good thing and I am cutting down on what I drink again, so that’s good stuff.

I messed up with the ISA I opened with the money we got back from Icesave, I rang A&L yesterday whilst trying to sort some money out and they said that I should have sent them the certificate along with a cheque for the money that was refunded and then they would have sorted the ISA out, not the way I did it. So they have advised that I write to the HRMC to let them know about the mistake and they should look leniently on it and write back and tell me the money deposited is okay, I then need to send a copy of that letter and the certificate to A&L. A&L are also going to write to the HMRC to let them know.

Talking of things money oriented, I opened an account with ING yesterday as I am unimpressed with Prinicpality, I have tried to put money into the account and they don’t seem to want it and they’ve dropped their interest rate to 3%, so I am going to be closing that one I think.

Dinner this evening is sorted, I am trying out a new recipe, well it’s new to us it’s called Hereford Sausages which is basically sausages in a cider and apple sauce which I am going to serve with mini roasted new potatoes and green beans/stringless beans :)

DH and I have also agreed that we are not going to the pub much any more, it doesn’t help that we had an argument with the bar staff over the toilets in the local…Don’t ask it’s a long story! So that will save us some money and when the hot weather starts, we don’t go to the local one anyway so no love lost there.

Oh and I listed two of the kids toys on ebid yesterday to try them out and see if they sell, fingers crossed they will go.

This was only going to be a small update but has turned into quite a long story.

Have a good day everyone and I’ll catch you all this afternoon.

Cider and apple! I like the sound of that. And good for you for ditching the pub ... thats surely dfw! Something at home is a lot cheaper - you could even get into making your own!

  • Afternoon all,

Hope that everyone is braving the cold horrible weather nicely and I hope that those who are feeling poorly with flu/cold get better soon.

DD and I have been to playgroup and Tesco's I spent £4 in there and that was to get stuff to go with dinner and it will also get used up over the weekend so not a waste, out of my pledge to spent on £20 this week I'm not 100% sure but I think I only spent £15, I know that I haven't gone over £20 as the last £1 coin that I had in my purse I got a stamp from Tesco's to start a new card :T

mickey mouse - not much planned for this weekend. DS has karate on Saturday, I am determined to try him with it. I tried before xmas and it didn't work so I have decided that I will try again two more times and if he still doesn't take to it then I won't take him again. What about you?

Karmacat - although ditching the pub is a good idea, habits are hard to break and as long as we have been together we have always been in the pub, kids or not; so it will take some adjusting and when we do go we have decided it will be once a month as a treat
  • It’s a cold and frosty Saturday morning here, DH has gone to work at the flying club and he said that as long as the visibility is okay then some people will be flying; he did give me a £2 coin before he left though :D

The Hereford Sausage recipe was fantastic last night, I was a bit dubious about eating it once it was on the plate (I don’t like my own cooking at the best of times) and it called for a bit more cider than was in the recipe as it didn’t taste quite right but DH ate it and said he’d have it again and it has given me the confidence to try Somerset Pork :)

Not much going on today, DS has karate and apart from buying tea and cake for myself and my mate nothing will get spent.

I must get DS’s school uniform washed today as well as the rest of the washing done; I need to get the lamb out the freezer so we can have lamb hotpot for lunch tomorrow…and the washing up needs doing (sigh!)

I can’t think of what we should have for dinner tonight, so may have to have a look in the freezer, we do have some ham in the fridge so we could have ham, eggs and chips…decisions, decisions…

Have a good day everyone, I’m off to have another cup of tea and warm up a bit.
  • Afternoon,

Karate went well, after quarter of an hour DS decided that he wanted to join in with his friend and had good fun :j so going back next week is definately an option and so we will have to pay for the term too :o , I did however only spend £3.50 at the centre out of my £20 for the week.

I have sorted the washing out and the uniform is all done :)

I have also written my letter to the HMRC regarding the ISA I set up, once I get a reply I will ask Alliance & Leicester to send my DH an ISA transfer form so he can set his up and then it can all be sorted in one swoop and I can stop worrying about it.

I have also listed another load of books on Amazon of the kids so that once they have been sold I can then get them some new ones from the charity shop :T as well as putting some towards the loan.
  • Morning, had an early start this morning as the kids and I had to drop DH off at the station as the garage is coming to pick his car up today.

Good news is that DH gets paid this week and the loan will go down by another £100 :)

DS has his best friend coming over from school today and Wednesday as his mum is doing some workshop thing in London and won’t get back in time to pick him up.

Won’t be a NSD today as I need to nip to the valley and get some thank you letters/stamps and nip to the bank to pay some money in and get some milk

My list for today is as follows:
    • Card shop, bank, Morrisons
    • Sort DD’s clothes out
    • Wash up and de-clutter kitchen; currently looks like WW2 has happened in there.
    • Clean bathroom
    • Print off and send HMRC letter
    • Write Thank You letters – must stop putting this one off and get on with it
    • Iron 10 pieces of clothing
    • Sort something out for dinner – raid the cupboards I think :D
That should keep me busy for a while.

    Have a good day everyone.
