    Hi Tea,

glad your christmas went well & there was free money to be had ;).
Happy New Year, like you I can hardly wait to get started on new debt busting challenges :)

  • Here it is 2009 and a chance to not just clear the loan but do some de-cluttering at the same time.

I have worked out my aims for January and they are as follows:
    • 10+ NSD
    • No more than £200 to be spent on the grocery budget from 15th January - 15th February
    • Pay £400 off the family loan
In order to pay £400 off the loan, I am going to attempt to do it in several ways:
    • E-bay kids baby toys, clothes
    • Get rid off most of their teddies (we could fill a teddy shop!)
    • Amazon unwanted CD's, DVD's, Books and Videos
I have revamped the menu list so just need to stock up on essentials so that I can put some new recipes in to action.

Once my boys are out of the house I can sit down and go through the finances again and figure out why December was such a heavy month and where we need to cut back on in January/February to balance things out.

    Catch you all later.

    Tea

Happy new year! You are starting out with realistic aims, and your list for January certainly looks achievable.

Happy New Year Tea!!! That looks a great start to the year, as well, your post above. What you said about working out *why* December was heavy is really important - analysing what we do can save sooooo much money. Looking forward to carrying on, so to speak.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Morning,

Have made a start on my list for January, I have photographed some of the kids toys and will upload them on the e-bay soon.

We have finally sorted the money side of things in the sense that DH is no longer worried about it, so he says, however I think my marriage is going down the pan; we had yet another argument about the kids and their behaviour. He believes that they are permanently naughty and walk all over me when I know damn well they don't and they aren't.

So much for a positive 2009! Whatever happens I will make sure that the kids are happy as they are my life.

I know that this isn't the place for it but I'm so annoyed.

Sorry to read that things are not going so well. I hope you can sort things out, one way or the other xx

Hi Tea, yes, I'm sad for you as well - and it *is* the place, we all need somewhere we can rant, without any consequences. I hope you and OH can sort it all out - its the keeping on talking that seems so important. Lots of hugs.

  • Hi,

Thank you for your words, things are a bit strained but we have had some fun with the kids at the local soft play centre...him and DS have just gone out and I didn't get my normal kiss goodbye?

On the upside I had an e-mail from Quidco to say that they'd put £5.75 into our account, so that is the beginning of the £400 I wish to save this month.

I think its the post christmas blues. My OH is suffering through an extended holiday from work and I'm the ogre for worrying about finances. I look at the house and see a huge amount of cleaning to be done, the OH would rather be elsewhere, shopping, sight seeing or pretty much anything other than here helping out. The late January trip to meet his mum half way between them and us has somehow morphed into 4 days at hers during half term when I'm supposed to be working. I don't have the holiday to go but apparently thats a pathetic excuse and I'm going whether I like it or not. Being a complete and utter git is usually a sign that the OH has something on his mind. At the rate hes going its likely to be a very large cast iron frying pan.

    Anyhow onwards and upwards.

The £5.75 from Quidco is a great start. Have you applied for a Tesco Free Sim? That was worth £2 and arrived, activated, tracked, validated and paid within 2 weeks of me signing up for it.

Thanks to Flying Fresian I've had a clearout of CDs, DVDs and PS2 games and am now £23.92 richer thanks to MusicMagpie.co.uk who paid surprisingly well with the wierdest CDs being worth £3. I'll be rummaging to find lots more later today, we have them everywhere and most of them haven't seen the light of day since the last time we moved house.

  • Hi Moo2,

Thank you, your post made me smile.

The shopping arrived and I noted that I saved £2.77 this week, that helps too as it all is going in the same pot this month.

I will check out MusicMagpie and see what I can get offered for my tat.

I appreciate all the replies today, I was feeling really yucky this morning due to lack of sleep and it's nice to know someone cares.
