Ooh yes, the ones we keep putting off - do it first! I don't *do* that, mind you, but I do feel thats what I *should* do! Have a good one.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Well yesterday didn’t quite turn out as I had hoped and not much got done, I ended up with the worlds biggest migraine. I don’t feel too bad this morning so tired and still a bit queasy.

So today is catch up again day, the good news is that I did the thank you letters and sent them off; DH’s siblings should get them over the next few days.

I need to nip back down to the valley again this morning before I go to playgroup as I need to nip to Boots and get the kids some cereal and I need to nip to the post office, everything I was supposed to have done when I was down there yesterday but forgot…my brain was seriously fuzzy yesterday.

Anyway my plan today is as follows:
    • Errands to be run
    • Playgroup
    • Wash up
    • Clean bathroom
    • Must do the ironing
Although my head still isn’t right, I think it will clear once I get going.

The good news is that DH did a balance transfer and got 0% for 16 months, which means that I can attack it and get rid.

Yesterday I forgot that there is more than the £100 being paid off from when DH gets paid this month, as I am putting half of what we have saved with the mortgage payments a month on to it too and once we hear from Cheltenham & Gloucester what the new payments are a month following this latest reduction in interest I will put even more in to the overpayments for SiL.

    Hi Tea,

sorry havent been on for a while & hope by the time you read this you have your proper head back. Well done on the sausages & cider, learning to cook properly is on my list of things to do this year ;)
  • Despite the migraine the other day, I still don’t feel 100% which tends to happen with me it takes me a couple of days :(

DD and I didn’t venture to playgroup yesterday as I wasn’t up to facing a load of screaming children, DS has his friend round from school again though which was hectic enough.

I have sent the letter of to the HMRC so hopefully they will be lenient on me and call me a silly moo and say everything’s okay and not to do it again.

I have been through the finances and even if we do not get the further reduction on the mortgage we can give SiL an extra £100 per month to get rid of it, which is fantastic! :T It might only be for this year but it will help immensely.

Also we have booked our holiday for this year, we are going back to Beverley Holiday Park in Devon where we went towards the end of last year; so that is something to look forward to, we are going at Easter too :D

I managed to get the ironing done yesterday

Today I am going to go through the kids clothes and sort them out, so that should take me a while.

Oh and I need something for dinner….ideas anyone????

Hey, that sounds a good day - especially with the dregs of a migraine lingering on. An extra £100 a month towards the family loan is brill too - you do *so* well at working the budgets, nice one.

Dinner ideas - I'm rubbish at that. My idea of a treat is chips egg and beans!

  • Morning Karmacat,

I love egg, chips and beans too but I don't think that'll fill DH when he gets home tonight.

I have just had a play on the snowball calculator and it reckons that we will get rid of the debt a whole 2 years earlier if we pay SiL the extra money a month :D
  • Another day and another step closer to weekend.

DH has been paid today so that’s a good thing and I’m just waiting for all the payments to come out so I can update my signature :)

I went through all the kids clothes yesterday and sorted them out and now have a drawer full of clothes that I can sell as well as a bag for the charity shop and a bag for the dump.

I am also in the process of going through the paperwork and boxing it up so it can go in the attic anything prior to 2008 is going in there, which surprisingly enough is quite a lot!

I now start my own grocery challenge for the month until when DH gets paid again. So the first shopping order has been placed for next week and I have spent £69.88 but saved £3.46 my aim for this month is to try and not spend anymore than £200 on groceries and alcohol; anything saved will get added up and when DH gets paid again this will go in the bank.

I must go to Tesco’s this morning once DS is at school, as I need to buy some essentials and stock up on the meat for the month.

We have a free feed on Saturday as we are going to see my favourite SiL and she is doing Shepherds Pie….yummy! :D

Oh and had a NSD yesterday and there will be another one tomorrow :D

You sound very calm and very regular in your dfw habits - and you're ready to start on ebay as well! Excellent stuff.

  • Hi Karmacat,

I see myself like a duck, calm on the surface but paddling furiously underneath.

I have been to Tesco's and I have spent £41.35, I know that is more than my monthly allowance on food within a week, but it does mean that we will eat well this month and we have enough mince to see us through next month as well and sausages to last us a couple of months.

All in all it should even itself out....well that's the theory anyway.

Exactly :D, reading your thread always soothes me & keeps me motivated. Good tip about the holiday in Devon, I'm already thinking about next year :o & as we're going abroad this year, we wont next year as I'll still be a DFW  . Rather than fritter money on small treats for DD this year I'm focusing on the holiday & hope she'll still be happy with that next year too. This is only possible as she is busy with school, homework & clubs. I intend to make much use of free entertainment like the allotment, garden, local parks & countryside rather than cinema, bowling etc. Lucky I had my LBM before she hits secondary school, would never get away with that kind of entertainment - peer group pressure  . It's really tough to keep children amused cheaply in winter * note to self : move somewhere hot & sunny by the sea* :rotfl:

    bye for now
