Sorry this update is late but I thought that I’d better do it now as I won’t get chance to come back on again today or tomorrow.
The good news is that I sold something on Amazon, after fees and postage, I have probably made 50p, once I wrapped the parcel up I put on 2 large 1st Class stamps on it as it isn’t wasn’t very big or heavy and stuck it in the post box, so the buyer should get it tomorrow.
I have trawled the charity shops this morning and have bought DS something for his birthday that was brand new, something for a friend of mine for her birthday in the next few months and something for DH’s nephews for Christmas…as a consequence today wasn’t a NSD
I have looked at my Christmas list and I only need to buy for the mum’s now and then family is all sorted and then I can concentrate on sorting out DS’s birthday
Shopping is being delivered between 12 & 2 and as it was through Tesco’s we got an extra 1000 points, their incentive to use them as well as ordinary points.
As the MGM Cartoons used to say…..That’s All Folks!! :rotfl:
Have a good weekend everyone.0 -
Well it’s Monday again, DH has been dropped off at the station and we are waiting to go to school.
I thought I should update my diary as this weekend has been eventful to say the least.
DH had a phone call on Sunday from SiL who we have the loan with, she didn’t ring the home phone as she might have had to speak to me  anyway she has stated to DH that if we can pay off half of the debt she doesn’t want the rest of it back…kindness?? Not as such she has stated that she’s only doing it because our kids are their god-children/niece & nephew and also because of the way things are with the credit crunch at the moment….nice eh?
That means that we only need to find £3565.16 to clear it totally and then we can look to pay back my mum the £2000.00 we borrowed from her in the latter part of last year to clear the overdraft before the bank upped the limit.
DH isn’t convinced that this will be the end of it and believes that it will be brought up in the future; I’ve told him that if she does then we will deal with it as and when it happens.
Does mean that I need to re-do the finances again and see how quickly we can get rid of it, the moving fund might be on hold for the moment and I think I need to investigate the scratchcards and see what can be done there.0 -
Oh my word! To manage to get rid of that debt so much more quickly would be fantastic. Sounds bad that your OH thinks there could be payback in the future.... it sounds like there's a long history there, Tea, but its great that she's offering this.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hi Karmacat,
It is great that she's offering it, I think DH feels that she's offering us charity and he doesn't want that, which I understand and can see it from his point of view. As for SiL she doesn't let sleeping dogs lie and will take any chance to have a go if she gets the opportunity.
Once I have gone through the finances, I will be able to see how long it will take us and hopefully this year or next we could be debt free (ish).0 -
I really hope her offer is no strings, im so happy for you that you could reduce your debt so much. I doubt she would offer to help like that if she didnt mean it.
How is your DD? is that lump starting to go down yet?DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Hi Lunar,
The offer is her way of saying 'you ruined the wedding (we didn't) now go away but don't think that I will ever forget that I helped you out because I won't', she is that vindictive, it's basically a pay off so that she can carry on not talking to her brother.
DD is okay thanks, still not eating loads or talking much more but the lump doesn't seem to be growing so that's a good thing. We spoke to the consultant and he has said he wants to see her in April so he can assess her before deciding what else he is going to do.
How's your little man? I bet he's growing, are you getting much sleep now?0 -
Hi Tea,
It would be wonderful to get that debt cleared, but if DH is wary of sil then do make sure she signs something to say that the debt is cleared & there will be no further demands for repayment in the future.

Another day and it’s a bit dark and wet out there, so far.
DH and I had a talk last night and we decided that we’d pay her the £3k as quickly as we can and then pay my mum and then we’d keep on saving the £5k that remains then if she ever starts on DH we can write her a cheque on the spot.
Did the finances yesterday for December and was shocked to say the least, we had majorly overspent, which also caused me to think about things
I am going to hold off getting anything for the mum’s for Christmas until later on in the year and I have also decided that the wine I drink, once it’s gone I don’t buy any more until the following week when the shopping is delivered…it’s not like we don’t have enough in the house.
I have nearly reached my payout level on Cashinco; I am 80p short of £10, so I definitely need to work on that one.
Today I need to go to the valley and get DH’s contact lenses, nip to Boots for nappies and get some bananas from Morrisons. I then need to go to playgroup as well as housework to be done.
Oh and yesterday was NSD for me :T
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning Purple. I think it's a really good idea about saving the other money so if she does every bring it up which from your posts sounds like she might you can just give it to her and its finished.Proud to be dealing with my debts - DFW No: 712

That sounds brilliant! About saving in case SiL goes barmy one day, I mean. It really sounds like you need to be wary there, I'm glad for you that OH and you are on the same page.
Tea, it sounds like you spend quite a lot on alcohol? Have you thought about making your own or even alternating with water/soft drink?2023: the year I get to buy a car0
