New year, new start - Purpletea65's 2009 Plan

DH had spoken to the insurers and he has been told to get a quote for the repairs. It is going to cost us £300 excess.
Fortunately the neighbours car has just got a big scrape on the wing so I doubt that it'll cost much to repair it and they do have the details if they wish to claim. Next time I get the kids out the car I'll remember to close the door before jumping back behind the wheel to park it...that is if DH lets me drive it again.0 -
Good morning,
I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas and got loads of presents
Not much to report; DH & the kids gave me a new sealed money pot and DH gave me a shiny £2 coin to put in it, so that is ready to fill come the 1st January and I am nearly at the top of my terramundi.
The kids and us got some money which although would be nice to pay ours off the debt, we do need some bits and bobs for the house so we are going to use it for that instead and the kids money is going to be used to kit them out with clothes following their recent growth spurts

Morning Tea.
Sounds like you had a very nice Christmas.
I did read elsewhere that people had successfully opened their Terramundi without breaking them so that they could be reused. I don't think I have the willpower for one though. I'm the child that spent hours with a butter knife wedged in the coin slot of the piggy bank wiggling it so that the coins came out as my mum had told us we couldn't open them.
I got lots of goodies and tons of choclate. Being a bad person I've already rewrapped a couple of things to send back to Yorkshire with my parents for the aunts I'd not bothered about because we haven't heard from them since last Christmas but once again they've gone overboard. At least its a good home for the tin of Quality Street Toffees - I hate toffees.
Eldest DD aged 9 is rather miffed at being given a set of Angelina Ballerina books to share with her little sister. Thankfully that was the worst of it, well that and giant pavement chalks, we don't have any paths for them to draw on, its all gravel and there aren't any pavements either. At least I can take those into school for the nursey class to use. I do sound rather ungrateful. I don't mean to be it just seems such a waste of money.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hi Moo2,
YOu do exactly the same thing as me regarding the re-wrapping of presents. I tend to get rid of things that I don't need by palming them off on unsuspecting family members every year.0 -
Morning all,
Thought I should update my diary as it has been a while.
Not much to report, I have been playing on the Mysupermarket website and have ordered this weeks shopping through it.
As for the debt, I haven't made any overpayments on it for a few weeks but plan to change this this next few weeks by e-baying any stuff no longer needed.
I am off to the next town this morning to go to Boots, the cheap pound shop and the Heart Foundation Shop. DH has said that he'll watch the kids rather then us all going out, so I can have a few hours on my own
Other then that I have housework to be done, I desperately need to change the beds.

Happy shopping!
Have a good day - gotta dash, late for work :mad:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Well another day is upon us, we are planning to take the kids to London Zoo today and to see the new site where DH is based.
I have been thinking about January and am eager to get started. It's a bit hard to get anything sorted whilst DH is at home as much as I love him, he gets under my feet sometimes.
From next week, I am aiming for 10 NSD and anything over that will be a bonus. My grocery challenge however will start from when DH gets paid on the 15th January until the 15th of February but in the meantime I plan to cut back as much as possible, I am aiming no more than £200 being spent.
The playgroups also start again next week

Hi Tea!
Doesn't Christmas go on for a long time! Now I'm back, and more or less unpacked (there's a lot stashed away undealt-with in the 2nd bedroom) I really want to get back into stuff, but there's a lot of fiddly things to be done - email to this person, copy of a digital photo to the other, blah blah. No grand gestures, unfortunately.
But we have to start from where we are. Ten NSD sounds good, and I like the sound of mysupermarket - I do know about it, but I always forget about it for some reason. I'm going to get a delivery later this month, so *must* do it through that - you can get ipoints as well, and they can build up to something respectable eventually.
Have a good one.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
good luck with the 10 nsds - I think I will also go for 10 nsds in January.

Afternoon all,
The London Zoo trip has been postponed mainly due to the sheer cold but also because DS misbehaved.
So after lunch the kids and us are are going for a walk in the local woods, which should be very pictuesque in weather like this. There is apparently a wonderful view of the South Downs from there
