*sneaks in at the back hoping noone notices she was late* :hello:
    Congrats soapy and family :):j
    Happy birthday thriftlady :)

First day in new job. I am on my own in the lab as if I leave then I can't get back in because of the security door and I have no idea where the bathroom is :rotfl: :rotfl:

Six emails from Dr Jeckyll in two days, have bounced five of them and changed my mobile number :D Woo hoo... the taste of freedom :rotfl: :rotfl:

Not done much in the way of OS'ing - made lemon cookies yesterday and what should have been a swiss roll became part of the kitchen disasters witness protection scheme.... rapidly sliced, bunged into ramkins and coated chocolate mousse so noone would guess it's true identity...

Have three Christmas dinners to attend (the curse/blessing of working in three places at once!) but I'm not buying a new party frock so started to try and alter the bridesmaids dress I had for my sisters wedding. I've never done this before so it might be a disaster. I've cut it down and have to hem it this evening. I might try and find a trim to put round the bottom to [STRIKE]try and hide the fact I can't cut straight[/STRIKE] make it more jazzy. I had all these grand designs about stitching in panels and adding a bit of a flouce to it - then I remembered what I did to the sock monkey [STRIKE]sock prawn[/STRIKE] and thought better of it.

I'll need to make something to widen the straps a bit (string straps really don't suit me), but I figured I could stitch something over them... This is daunting. I'm too impatient for needle work - I tend to cut first and think later :rotfl: Still, we'll have to see how it turns out....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a good day all, I will catch up on the thread in a bit - I've missed you guys :) cel x

Have taken out my temper on the sink which is now gleaming!

    Betheebee

We are of course talking about using tightly rolled up socks as ear warmers - aren't we?

Feel awful making DH sound like a meanie- he does not begrudge anything that is needed, just not used to females wanting "stuff!" With five of us in the house you would think he would be used to it by now!

He does thank me every year for makin a nice "christmas" for the girls. He hates winter and everything that goes with it and does not really cheer up till January!

    Sybil

DH does not actually grunt, just makes it plain he does not "get it!"

I lost my temper a while ago and told him he did not have to be enthusiastic but if he "pee'd on my parade" one more time then there would be trouble as I try very hard not to waste money, to get good deals and to not ever get into any debt.

    Afternoon:D

    :j :j :T :T :j :j Soapie's got a BLUE bubble !!!!!Well done to all!

 Happy Birthday thriftlady. Enjoy a relaxing glass or two tonight:D ( no not beer, Martin doesn't supply an elegant wineglass smiley)

celyn, nice to *see* you. I was only thinking about you when I was scrubbing the kitchen half an hour ago:D Wonder what that means in Freudian terms:rolleyes: I had just shifted the coffee jar if that means anything;) Hmmmmm the dress sounds *interesting*:rotfl:

As already referred to I'm scrubbing, tidying and generally unmessing my kitchen today, including all cupboards and the oven:eek:  It's taking longer than I thought. I suppose half an hour was a bit optimistic:o :p But honestly it's been nearly three hours and there's still loads to do. Oh well, onwards and upwards, I've finished my cuppa.

  • :D Hello eveybody - congratulations and hugs to all with news/who need a hug. Well, I have got a stomach upset today so I am actually posting before I go back to bed. However, this may in no small part be caused by giddiness over the last week. Some of you will recognise my user name as a fabulous LP by a wonderful 1980s group who sadly have not performed properly since 1985. That is until April next year :j :j :j :j :j Ultravox are re-forming for a tour and guess who has tickets for both Manchester and Glasgow :j :j :j :j (not very old style I know but c'mon I've waited 25+ years for this!) I am soooooooooooooooooo happy...... (not quite in the same league as a new born but dammit, IMO as near as :rotfl: ). I have also dropped huge hints to Father Christmas AKA Mr Rage as I am convinced they are going to do another date in London and if so........... Oh, I'm back to be in my mid-teens again..... Apart from that not much happening. Sold a couple of more things on e-bay but have had a rash of non-paying bidders  Also yesterday was my Dad's bithday - he would have been 100 so we took flowers to Mum's grave and then I took some flowers today to him - wasn't well enough yesterday. Also unfortunately the lady who was my Brown Owl when I was little died yesterday from an aggressive cancer. She lives at the top of Scotland so it's 50/50 if we can get to the funeral (as I am waiting to be told when it is and Manchester to Wick is a long way). So rather a mixed bag over the weekend - but we did have a snow flurry this morning :D right that's it I can hear a hot water bottle calling via the bathroom. Huddle up warm everybody it's going to be cold one!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

    Congratulations Soapy babyboy.gif

Not much OS done here today as I've been to work. Very pleasant it was too today. I've been on a one day course, with plenty of time at lunch time to browse the internet!

I took my own sandwiches (as always), and tonight I will be making myself yet another chicken dinner (the rest of the chicken has been frozen, so I can have something else tomorrow evening :D ).

Ds will have had his tea at nursery, but usually requires a top up of pasta in some form when he comes home, and a drink of milk. He is only diddy, so no idea where all the food goes .

My 20 minutes home alone is now over, I'm off to collect my boy.

    Take care all of you

    Hi all,

Well December is now here so that must mean that Christmas is well and trully on its way:beer:

Today at work thay told us that we were going to be haveing 3 weeks off for christmas with pay:j :j

Then thay told us the bad news that after christmas thay are closeing down all the shifts and everyone will be going onto days 7.30-4.30. But this also means that we will all have to take a pay cut of 20%

But as thay have told us if we keep the shifts in place then we will all have to go on a 3-4 day working week. And the pay drop will be a lot more than 20%
So we have had to take the deal. Thay ahve said that as soon as work picks back up then we will all be back on our shifts will our full pay back. But looking at it this could turn out to be months away.

But never mind there are a lot more folks that are a lot worse off at the moment than what has happend to us.

Anyway i haopt that you are all well and that you are keeping warm.
Someone said it might snow here tomorrow or wednesday so will have to wait and see.

Have a good evening all and a great and safe day tomorrow.

    Enjoy yourself:j  :j

  • Halight - so sorry that you have had such bad news.

Little bear is being very naughty. I was downstairs from the living room trying to get some order into the kitchen, when some instinct brought me upstairs. Little bear can climb up his high chair and stand on the (thank goodness firmly attached) tray. The  does not do it justice. He is currently alternating as I type between opening two drawers he is not allowed to touch. There are clothes pegs everywhere.

Now, is it defrosted hm soup to go with the bread now baking in the breadmaker? Or is it fish & chips again. It will have to be soup because dear heart has been working so hard and it will be him queuing, but that is the end of all the frozen home made soup. If I can get him to nap tomorrow morning I can feel batch baking coming on.

Just to add, little bear, as I typed, took a book from the bookcase called 13 steps to mentalism and then sat on the floor as if he was reading it. He's now making a very creditable attempt to return it to the shelf and is perusing a book on gymball.

I am going to have to go and cuddle him because I don't think the house will be left standing if I don't, but I shall be back in due course to try and work out some OS stuff.
