Happy Birthday to Thriftlady,:bdaycake:
We have snow here today! The thick frost from yesterday never disappeared so it something cold to rest on. So it was porridge for breakie - yum.
I have on OS day ahead of me today, so thought I'd pop in an check on you allI have to:
change the beds
do the washing and drying
get through some of the ironing pile
feed the christmas cake
clean the bathroom
it's sausage and mustard casserole with mash for dinner tonightWe also haven't had any home baking for a while - so if I can find the energy I'll make some twinks hobnobs or a sponge cake.
I have been hit with the nesting bug and also have a wish list which includes sorting through all my cupboards  And my midwife keeps extolling the virtues of scrubbing the floors - leaving that one for a few weeks though
bye for now xr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
I am so sleepy at the moment. Snow always does this to me - I want to sleep whenever it snows
We've had a few flakes only, but it is better than any sleeping tablet.
Well, as far as OS things were concerned, the weekend can only be called a failure if you were feeling charitable - more like a disaster. Also lots and lots of veggies to use up. So I shall be today playing nicely in the kitchen, making soup to freeze and bread and something warming for tea for dear heart.
 I am going to have to throw out some lolly ices, some mini milks and some ice cream. Little bear never really took to ice cream over the summer, when it was warm enough to give him the stuff (ooh, at least three days), dear heart keeps forgetting it is there and I don't like cold things. However I am heartily sick of seeing them every time I try and cram in frozen peas or work out where to put the soup.
I did consider taking them round for the children next door, to see if they would like them. However, there is a hard frost and they don't actually have any heating, only a small electric fire, I don't think even the most sweet conscious child would welcome a lolly ice now.
Also, a large pack of frozen chicken portions that have been sitting there for over a year. They are going to get used! Can you freeze cooked chicken? To be used later as a stir fry?
Thriftlady - Happy birthday ! I hope you have a lovely time.

Morning all!
Cold and frosty one here today, 2.5 below freezing when I took the dog out earlier, brrr! Still the nice scrunchy grass was lovely to walk on, lol!
Been busy swishing and swiping the kitchen, how does it get in such a mess on a Sunday, especially as me and the girls were out for most of the day, actually I probably have my answer right there, ds is the culprit! Still shouldn't complain too much as he was brave enough to go freezer diving last night and found some huuuuuge pork chops, which I did in cider along with some of the sausages from the same piggy.
Have tidied the sitting room, still need to sort out the dining room, lots of drawing and making and doing stuff everywhere, think that job belongs to dd2 and dd3 who made the mess really!
Need to put on bm and start off some more yoghurt and cheese, have a swift hoover and change beds.
dd3 is doing yoghurt making at school today apparently, the teacher is in for a right old lecture from her about the right and wrong way no doubt! Bet dd3 has her making soft cheese tomorrow as well!
Lunch was cheese sarnies all round, with spicy chilli pickle for ds as well! Yoghurt and honey, raisins, choc biscuit and bananas. Prob soup for me. Not sure about dinner as haven't yet done my week's mealplans, opps!
Thriftlady - happy birthday, I hope you enjoy your day xx
N9eav and Mrs Tittlemouse - have you tried glassesdirect or glasses4u, so long as your prescription isn't too complicated I think they can help. I use glassesdirect and aside from being a whole lot cheaper than a high street optician, their customer service is excellent.
mum2g1b - have you checked the wires on your telly? Our scart lead is a bit loose, and if knocked our pic goes green!
Beth - glad your hand seems to be healing a lot quicker this time, don't try to do too much though!!!!!
Have a good day all, hugs where needed xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

you cant re heat it a second time I think - am sure someone else will be along who knows more than I do but I once gave Dh food poisoning by doing that!:o but you can freeze it cooked and eat it cold once it has defrosted.
hope that helps!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning all!
Another cold day here. I was so hoping it might warm up just a tad, I have 100's of spring bulbs to plant and haven't been able to get out to do it. I have masses of indoor hyacinths to plant up and I have some to spare so if anyone wants 3 for a basket or something, give me a p.m. and we can sort it out. I know they probably will not flower in time for christmas now, but I am more than happy to share.Thriftlady!
sistercas - ahhhhhhh thank you, the mystery is solved. I will never again wonder what a pickled bum is..
Squiggly - really glad you had a great birthday!
Sybil - yes, you can freeze cooked chicken but when you use it again, defrost it thoroughly and make sure it is piping hot before you serve it. Or just eat it cold as has been suggested.
OH came home from town yesterday with a turkey breast joint that you cook from frozen from Iceland. It was £6 and I wasn't expecting much from it but it was delicious! It hardly shrank at all and was totally delicious. It fed three hungry adults with plenty left for another meal. My OH made his famous roast potatoes and he even made sausages wrapped in bacon so we had a mini Christmas dinner!:rotfl:
Had to have words with the lodger - she keeps fallling asleep with the tv, light and heater on in her room and the other night my OH was out working and I got up at 0400 to talk to tristan and that was when I discovered itl So she had been asleep about 5 hours with it all on full blast. I made a joke of it, but she said she will give us some more money towards the bills, so let's hope she does!
Have some cards to finish off today and then must start writing them. have to get the extra duvet out today too, I need my own duvet on the bed now it's cold!to all who need them and congrats to anyone celebrating today.

Happy Birthday Thriftlady, i hope you have a good one
Its soooo cold here today,i needed to scrape the ice of DS car before i could take the youngest to school. Middle DS is poorly,so at home.He has a really sore throat and just feels achey.
Not too much OS going on here at the minuteI had forgotten to take the cubed steak out of the freezer. So no idea whats for tea ? Think i will have to have a root around and see what i can find quick.
I cant believe its 1st today ? Who stole November ? Busy day of house tidying before i can get my tree up. I just cant wait to put it up,but unfortunately my dining table needs moving so i need to have to jiggle that round before i can make a start. Add that to the 101 craft projects that i have on the go and i could do with each day pre christmas being 48 hours long !!
Hugs to those who need one/want a hug
I shall try to come back laterfurrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:

Hello everybody - happy birthday Thriftlady, lovely pressie.
Question - got some left-over chicken and I want to make some pasta bake thingy - anyone got any ideas?
I'm feeling very tired today, so I think I'll take a walk with the dawg to perk me up!
I did my Christmas orders over the weekend, chicken, veg box, stilton and something else from Abel and Cole - the rest from Tescos. Glad that's done. Most of the shopping is done, I hate a last minute rush!0 -
