Morning everyone.Brrr, very white and frosty here, but beautiful.I,ve not actually done any OSing yet,but thinking about it  .DH is full of a cold, hope he's not as generous as usual.
Nearly finished writing my cards, don't think I'll have to make any more.We had a rare Sunday morning trip out yesterday to the Lowry outlet mall-glad we went early,it was getting chaotic when we left.I went to find a shop called The paper mill that the lady who runs my card class told me about-you get an empty box and do a pick and mix till its full of nice card annd paper for 4.99,the more boxes you buy the cheaper it gets, and if you take the box back when its empty, they knock 50p of the next lot.
Good tidy up today and then baking, perhaps rock buns flapjacks and rocky road.Don't need to make any bread yet.
Right ,on with the day!
Happy birthday Thriftlady _party_ .Have a good day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning everyone- hope everyone is ok?
Its bloomin' perishing here- I did the dash to the garage to put our bedding in the TD and nearly had frozen hair as it was still wet!! BRRRRRRRR!!!!
Darn TV is on the blink- the picture is VERY pink! Have tried altering the scolour settings etc etc but it doesn't make any difference. Dh googled" why is my TV pink" and the results were not hopeful- ie your TV is dying!!!
Since my 2 teenagers would not survive without the dross they watch and my little guy would miss Noddy I will have to do some research and price comparisons!!! Imagine if I told the kids no TV over Xmas!!
Anyway- WM has been on and will be on again in a minute. Have done my menu plan and shopping list for food shop today.
One load of washing is on the airer- more to add later!
Off to dress little guy and then head out in the cold!!
Have a good day everyone and stay warm!0 -
Morning everyone and Happy Birthday to Thriftlady have a good one:beer: Really cold here this morning, frost and snow and dont want to sit still too long brrrr. Lots to do today in the cooking dept. Cookies, cottage pie for tonight may do a quiche and cake. My trust BM has died and must get on to the help line re prob. Secretly hoping nothing can be done so I can get a Panny in the new year, but dont really want to be doing without one so will have to wait & see. Cant believ its Dec 1st have nothing done toward christmas yet!! Aghh you all seem so organised. Lack of funds this year as hubbys work is a bit slack so it will probably all be last minute. Also reading the thread I've come to the conclusion that every choccie advent calendar has a cracker for today as my four all got crackers in theirs!!!
Mum2g1b I'd be putting the flaming TD in the house all that extra heat produced is just wasted heating the garage!!Plus I'm too lazy to troll out to the garage for washing:rotfl:

Good morning everyone:hello:
Thank you for the birthday wishes:A
I've had a lovely OS present from my OH -a huge Le Creuset casserole dish, great big round one-about 8 litre capacity. I've already got a smaller oval one which I use constantly, but I wanted a bigger one so that I could make quantities of stews etc for the freezer. They're not cheap but last forever. I'm planning a beef stew in it on Saturday. I've had some Amazon vouchers too and I'm hoping I'll have enough to get a Le Creuset set of a small casserole and two stoneware dishes.
I also got Mamma Mia which I didn't see at the cinema. Saving it for Friday night;) The kids gave me a bar of Green & Blacks each -I'm having some for breakfast:o
I spent yesterday cooking- florentines for my French class today, and a special birthday dinner of roast chicken and profiteroles (leftover choc sauce in the freezer for pouring on ice cream for the kids at Christmas). OH is getting fish and chips tonight and a bottle so no more cooking today (leftover soup for lunch).0 -
Morning All
Didn't get off to sleep til 3.30 and was up at 5am thanks to DS3 and his lego advent calender :rotfl:
He set his dalek alarm and the whole house was 'exterminated' at 4.40:o
We were up before Dad who's a postie
It did give me the incentive to get some bits done anyway,so have at last done the pickled onions and have the bones from yesterdays roast in the slowcooker making stock.
Many Happy Returns Thriftlady  hope you have a lovely birthday!
Hope you all have a great day

Morning chums,
damp, cold and grey here in North Kent still only 24 more days till the big day.My eldest DD birthday tomorrow ,she is 41 and still looks about 15.She is only a titch, and I think that keeps her looking quite young. Not a grey hair in her head ,don't you just hate folk that don't age .
Happy Birthday to Thriftlady,:bdaycake: hope you get lots of goodies.
I have to get the tree out and sorted today, and my youngest DD is coming to put the dekkies up for me as climbing about on chairs isn't condusive to good health at my age. College tonight, so its and early dinner for me.Something from my bottomless freezer I think.
Will I never empty the blooming thing?. I bought some new drawers for it a couple of months ago. and have been trying to eat everything up in it so I can defrost it and replace the drawers.I can't bellieve how long it takes to empty it though.
Off to have some late breakfast I think I have some gammon left over from my joint that I did on Friday to use up, so I may have that with some scrambled eggs. <<hugs to those who are sad or feeling down>> and I hope the rest of you have a good Monday, far too damp to hang the wash out so its going on the airer
Cheers everyone
JackieO xx
P.S. My youngest DGS Mikey has his first full day at school today,as opposed to mornings only. After Christmas it will be all the time.I expect my DD will be feeling a bit tearful when she comes here, the last of her brood will soon be in full-time education, bless her she has had 15 years of a little one around with her 5 children.
memo: must buy squashy cake to cheer her up:D ,and me of course0 -
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr its a cold one this morning. Hard frost over night and very cold, its not doing my man flu any good.
Happy Birthday Thriftlady.
Went to the local Christmas fayre & farmers market yesterday, very disappointed with the farmers market side of things, I have to say. For some reason the local meat supplier/farmer had been replaced by someone who had come 70 miles & was charging the earth, at least to me, for his produce. Still that left plenty of time to cook some soup from the remains of a chicken & put it in the freezer, strip the beds and get the washing machine on.
Tea is cold pork & mash, left over from yesterday. Have a good one everybody.0 -
Morning all,
Didn't get on here y/day busy doing xmas card list, sewing and help/oversee DH prep and cook dinner, we bought a 3 bird roast from Aldi. It's a duck in a chicken within a turkey, it was absolutely delicious. I made the glaze recommended by Phil Vickery, and did glazed parsnips, roast pots, baby carrots, celariac and brocolli.
My left hand/arm is not as painfull as the right one was after the op. I think the first surgeon used to work for Dewhursts. I'm able to use it more everyday, just doing light stuff, I do have to try and use it to keep the muscles from siezing up so will do a spot of ironing. Have received DD2 and DgD's xmas wish list so will do some online shopping today and pop to Morries.
Took delivery of a TomTom, for SiL 2b's xmas pressie, on Saturday but will take it back to Halfords as I've seen that it's been reduced by £40.
Well that's all folks have a good day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY THRIFTLADY _party_
SMOKY ((((((((((hugs to you and LO's))))))))))))))0
