My Space Cream kitchen was installed in early November.
We are delighted with it, however, there is one piece left over, a full size custom fit panel, used for completing various odds and ends. I have written MFI asking them to collect it and refund the £169 I paid for it, but no answer.

What are my chances of getting it collected and the momey refunded? It sounds like not much but we need it.

    Alternatively, is anyone interested?
As a last resort it can be used to make cabinets. For instance, we are using the second such panel to make a covering for our gas boiler.

For my sins I have 80% of an MFI kitchen already fitted, and was waiting for delivery of the rest last Friday.

Anyway onto the swopshop route .......... I am looking for the following:

SPACE CREAM 1000mm HighLine Base Unit x 1
SPACE CREAM 500mm HighLine Base Unit x 1
SPACE CREAM 1000mm FullHeight Wall Unit x 2

    SPACE CREAM 300mm Larder Door x 1

    CHUNKY HANDLES 610mm x 4

I have some space cream bits I don't need, so let me know if you are short.

    Dr. Options

P.S. Howdens do supply very similar kitchens to MFI, so they might be worth a try if you are missing bits, although their 'Gledevon Cream' is a slightly different shade to MFI Space Cream.

    to my last post.

The Space Cream Custom Fit Panel mentioned above is called SCM1882. It is 240 x 65 cm.
It is very heavy, and anyone who wanted it would have to collect it.... I live in Eastbourne.

Eastbourne?? That's a blow, as that panel is on our damaged, never to be replaced list!!
Will have a think about logistics, but it seems unlikely, given distances involved

I am so sorry to read of all the misfortunes that have happpened to you all. I am really fortunate that the same did not happen to me; we had to delay the installation several times, and I'm just lucky it happened when it did. I do hope thet you all find some relief.

    What a pity!
We should really open an official Swap Shop somewhere.

Has anyone recieved a refund yet?

Yes - Full refund it seems is on the way to me as I paid via credit card. A mysterious disputed transaction credit message has appeared in the list of recently made transactions when viewed by the online account with an MR code - but it has not yet shown fully as part of the available spend/credit on the account.

Any ideas what the MR code refers to?

It may get returned as a cheque payment or credit to bank account - not 100% certain yet, but looks promising with the simple fact of that note appearing...will give it a few more days before querying it with Cc provider.

  • I am awaiting a s75 reclaim refund for £3300. back in Oct 08 I paid a deposit on my kitchen valued at £12000 of £3600. I wanted the buy now pay in a year option which they agreed on. I went on 23 Oct with a letter from MFI saying pay in full or no kitchen!. The sales manager recommended pay the £8400 on a credit card so we can process the kitchen and then in a couple of weeks theywould refund the £8400. they havent what a surprise! and I believe I was miss sold.

question is now I have my kitchen, and I can ill afford a huge credit card bill, am I still entitled to a sectikon 75 from the halifax?
  • I am one of the lucky few only £500 out of pocket, however i now have another problem...

The bottom oven of my Diplomat Elite double oven has stopped working. I called the number on the insurance certificate which directed me to AIG. However they say they cannot help me until the appliance is a year old (mine is less than 3 months) They gave me an alternative number and E.mail address which just happened to be MFI customer services and a week later I have still heard nothing back!!

Reading yesterdays NOTW I saw in Martins column an article about claiming back for faulty appliances under the Section 75 ruling. So would I be able to claim back for any repairs I would need to have done?

I am currently still waiting to hear back from Black Horse finance after I sent them a copy of the Section 75 letter from this site.

    Thanks Amanda
  • Just had my mastercard bill in,and it is showing £2350 in dispute .I am claiming the full amount even though i have had 80% of my kitchen delivered

just been on the phone to barlclays, there very aware with the mfi situation, all card payments will be refunded before end off december. hope that helps
    merry xmas every1.

barclaycard said they would suspend the charge, only 1150 on that card, but wouldnt process anything until after the date of delivery was due. but they still took the full amount from my bank account - not very impressed.
