MFI Administration article discussion

Hi,
We purchased an "Aurora" kitchen but we were still waiting on 2 doors and 5 handles when MFI went bust.
Firstly does anyone know of anywhere I can source these parts?
Secondly we set up finance and are due to start paying in August 09.
Why should I pay for a kitchen that is incomplete, I dont want a refund on the doors and handles, so what are the chances of me refusing to pay??
I am so annoyed as if it wasnt for the idiot at the Romford branch messing up the original order I would have my doors and handles and would be quite happy paying
I feel like refusing to pay and going to court and if they cant get my doors and handles they can refund me the cost of the fitter who installed it, come and rip it out and take back the kitchen and I can start again
I have a 10 month old baby who is now toddling who cannot go into our kitchen as I do not want her hurting herself
Thanks alot MFI & MCR you have ruined my Christmas0 -
As long as it is a VISA debit card section 75 will apply, it is the fact that because it is covered by VISA that you can do this.hi can any one please help.......
I paid £400 for some home office furniture, i paid the full balance on my VISA DEBIT card NOT credit card, does section 75 still aply to me as the MFI website advises i will have to claim my money back from my bank but i thought this only aplied to credit cards???? Im now completely confused as to what to do?????0 -

Does this apply to me as well, I'm very confused as to which route I should be using to claim. Here is my situation below;
Order value £507.40 which was paid in April 2007 but we haven't had any of the goods yet. I asked them at the time for the order to be delayed as we weren't able to take delivery at that time, they didn't mind as I had paid the bill. I planned to take delivery in March 2008 and fit the units but due to sudden ill health I wasn't able to take delivery as I wouldn't have been able to fit them, so I had left the order on hold, then they went in to administration.
The total payment was made up in 3 ways,
£226.50 from returned items not required for a fitted kitchen we had installed
£280.00 Tesco Clubcard Deals
£0.90 A&L VISA DEBIT Card
You will see only the total order was £507.90 so over £100 but only 90p was paid on a Visa DEBIT Card but this was in April 2007 so does Section 75 still apply?
There is no mention of payment by Tesco Clubcard Deals on MFI's website or this one in Martin's write up, how are they dealt with?
Do I claim from the full amount £507.90 from the Administrators as a cash/other type payment or do I try Section 75 with A&L Visa?
Any advice welcome, thanks.0 -

Hi
I paid my balance off with my debit card, and yes you can claim under section 75 so I am told. I went to my bank explained what had happened,(Barclays then rang up for me and a form was sent in the post to me to complete. You have to provide proof of transactions re statements, receipts, along with any other documents connected with MFI and then post back to your bank, and hope they can get your money back to you. If at all possible keep copies of everything. Hope this is of help and lets hope we get our money back it is worth trying. Bizzy0 -

Where is my bedroon furniture? It must have been in a warehouse or something when I ordered it surely? So what happened to it and where is it now?
I printed off the statement on the website along with my sales invoice and faxed it off to my credit card company this afternoon. At least they can't stall on the "we hope to fulfil orders" rubbish anymore. I'll let you know how I get on.
However, my bedroom is still like a building site and will probably be like it for sometime as I can't find anything as reasonably priced or as well fitting as what I was getting from MFI.
Hope others are having more luck.
Try having a look in Wickes - They seem really reasonable - and am sure there will be a January Sale!0 -
can anyone help please we bought an MFI ex display Kitchen and two bathrooms from a store in wsm as it was closing, but we only bought it because we were told by the sales man that we would still be able to buy the kitchen extras cupboards etc from the larger store in Bristol as they were not closing. £7200 later we removed the kitchen and bathrooms and were about to order what we needed to finish the rooms from bristol only to find that they have closed all MFI, we paid on credit card a large amount are we able to clainm under section 75 as I feel that we were mis sold. We haven't installed anything thank you for your help0

Which kitchen is it?

Well, I amongst many others I'd imagine feel as if I have been completely sold down by the river by MFI. My whole order from start to finish has been a complete shambles. Even before they went into admin. I had been into the shop SEVEN times to meet with the manager to complain about various things that went wrong with my order.
The guy was so smug about the whole thing and finally agreed to knock £75 off the total order value to apologise for the various mess-ups......guess I have had that now. If I ever meet that guy again in the street I will have a few choice words to say to him. I should just have cancelled the whole order when I had the chance after the first news that they were heading into admin back at end Sept (yes, 2 days after my original order I might add.....). Luckily, I changed part of the original order as I saw that I could get better worktops / sink / tap from B&Q for less money, otherwise I would be out of pocket by another £400.
Instead, I got my initial £400 deposit back and then following the news that they had a management buy-out after the weekend I thought I was safe and repaid the whole lot (about £1500) on my credit card....better safe than sorry I though. So, a week before I went away with work for 3 weeks I got a partial delivery of less than 1/4 of my Rimini kitchen. I was told the rest would be delivered after I returned from my 3 weeks working away.
Meanwhile, during this period and as you all know MFI went into administration. I could do nowt about it and spent 3 weeks basically helpless trying to get through on that stupid "helpline" and reading updates on MFI and MCR websites which have kept all of us hanging on until now.
So the current situation is I am left with 25 % or less of a kitchen delivered, that I have no hope of getting the rest of the bits for (nor do I even want it anymore as the guarantee is invalid on everything including appliances). I have a few questions regarding what I do next.
1. Do I apply for the whole balance (about £1500 in total) as a Section 75 refund to my CC provider ? The websites say that customers who have received a partial delivery will only be entitled to a partial refund and the CC provider will only credit for items that have not been delivered. Is this correct and are they legally entitled to do this ?
2. Also, I have also heard that if any items are under £100 as itemised on my MFI invoice then they will not be credited in any refund as they are not covered under Section 75 refunds ? Is this correct and do I have to accept this ? If this is true I will be left with only some of my money refunded (assuming of course I actually get any back) and a collection of worthless and useless parts for a kitchen I cannot use or even want anymore. To let you understand, the majority of items on my invoice, excluding appliances are under £100.
3. I am entitled to demand a whole complete refund because they have breached contract in the first place ?
I just want to know where I stand and how much I am likely to get back after the dust settles. I could really do without this at the moment, as my mother is dying in hospital with a terminal brain tumour and due to buying kitchen things are financially kind of tight. It looks like Christmas is set to be a very unhappy time for me this year0 -
I have just spoken to a company that can provide you with a similar 22mm Boss Handle to your MFI Chunky.Search engine for Trade Handles and at tradehandles.co.uk .They close on the 23rd and re-open on the 5th Jan.So be quick!
The handles are not quite the same length but you can carefully cut them down,as the end bosses can be removed and re-fitted.
Please mention me when contacting them. a.christie@btinternet.com
I can supply you with most other MFI handles to complete your kitchen.
