  • If anyone with MFI bedroom stock I am looking for 2double deep drawer fronts in Manilla Walnut item number NFBB262
  • Hi all,

I'm another person having problems with MFI... I bought a sofa in April this year and they were nice enough to give me 5 year extended warranty, very kind of them.... Yeah right.

When I received the sofa I noticed the cushions (the ones you sit on) on the 3 seater were noticeably firmer than the two seater, but didn't think to much of it. Four months on I've noticed this has caused problems and the seams on every cushion on the three seater is coming apart.

I contacted MFI on 27th October via E-mail and recieved a reply on the 10th November asking for invoice number, after my reply all went quiet. As It took a while to recieve the first reply I thought I would give them the benifit of the doubt and wait until I hear something. I then hear MFI went into Administration, which explains the lack of a reply.

I e-mailed them once again to be told its been passed onto the "Sofa Ops team" About a week later I got a e-mail from the Administators saying I will be contacted in "Due course" regarding the problem.

So now I'm no further forward, there is no stores open to actually vent my anger on and I'm left with a 8 month old sofa thats slowly falling apart. Although I tried phoning the local store and they said they are open Boxing day?

Does anyone knoe what I can do? or should do? Does anyone know who manufactures sofa's for MFI? I know they are UK based but I carn't find a name. The sofa I bought was the Isabella 3 and 2 seat sofa.

Sorry for the long thread, but I also have another issue with them. Unfortunatly for me the Bathroom suite came from MFI and I broke the loo seat. I ordered a new one from the local showroom in the August, received it in the September and it was totally different. Phoned them up, they sent another one out, its the same wrong one! Phoned them again to be told its the one they supply with that toilet. I put off fitting it due to the unit needing dismantling to remove the seat... don't ask, only to find it doesn't fit

I've got a Rhine BTW toilet and they assured me the soft close seat would fit, and it doesn't.... Any ideas what to do?

Sorry for my endless waffle, I'm at a bit of a loss what to do regarding these problems.

    Many Thanks,
    Dan
  • Hi All, this is my first post so bear with me!!

There is another update on the MFI website this morning about making claims etc.

I paid my deposit by Capital One and balance by Halifax Visa Debit Card. Claims have been made to both parties and we are just waiting for replies now. But I have to say the people on the end of the phone at the Halifax were sooooo helpful - no forms etc knew exactly what I was talking about and how much. Said even though I had paid a deposit with Capital One, I did not need to claim the full amount from them and that they would deal with the large sum that had been paid by them. So watch this space, but it has given me hope for the first time in weeks!!!

I finally took the plunge to order another kitchen at the weekend - was feeling too sick about the whole thing before then!!!

I can very highly recommend Wickes to anyone - they have been absolutely brilliant and their sale has started now too. Also, knowing that we are all waiting for our money they had a deal with a 9month deferred first payment and then 24 months interest free on top of that. They have quoted 4 weeks delivery for the kitchen and it gives us a lot of breathing space to sort out the other money.

So thanks to Wickes and Halifax I am feeling a little bit better today so thank you to both of you!!!

Good luck to everyone else in whatever your situation. :T
  • Just got of the phone to the Abbey.

They know about the MFI problem.

Explained to them about Visa DEBIT chargeback (section 75) and they told me that the money will go back into my account a.s.a.p.

I asked about forms, recepits or any other bits they need from me but they did not require this.

Hopefully the money is on its way.

Everybody get on the phone to your bank NOW.

Need the money to go shopping again of more bedroom gear.

    Will keep ya posted.

    Hi Kev,

I'm not 100% but I think Visa DEBIT chargeback and section 75 are different things. Section 75 applies to Credit Card purchases and the chargeback is for Visa Debit cards...

  • Having read the statement on the MFI and MCR website, it doesn't tell us anything new really. Has anyone got any idea about my queries above ?
  • Hi,
Thought I would just bring some hope to all of you who paid deposits etc to MFI for goods that have not been recieved. I had paid over a £1000 deposit in October for a kitchen which I had no chance of getting. I looked on this website and with the information on here about the Visa/debit chargeback I did exactly what it said to do. Ten days ago I called my bank, I told them I wanted to do a Visa debit chargeback for the amount oweing to me. At first they didnt really know ( or pretended not to know) but I was insistant they put me through to the chargeback dept which they did and I explained the situation.
They sent me a form to complete which entailed signing it, dating it and sending a photo copy of deposit paid to MFI. TODAY I received the full amount refunded back to my bank account!! I can't thank Martin enough for this site as I thought my money was history. It is easy to reclaim your money so do it, it only took me 5 minutes, and after 10 days I have all my money back.:money:  :T
  • Hi,
MFI split the order for my bedroom furniture into two orders and although, say, 60% was delivered in November the other 40% is outstanding. So I was just about to contact my Credit Card company to try and arrange a refund for both orders and, as you can imaging dreading the difficulty that I may have in obtaining a refund for the first order. I started to look for when the purchase was placed on by credit card bill. I've looked several times, on-line as well, and to date I have not been charged for either order. So what to do? I can sit here looking smug but I'm not because I'm now quite worried about what to do. Should I contact my credit card company and tell them that they have forgotten to charge me for the MFI furniture and by the way when you do charge me I would like all my money back even though 60% of my purchase has been delivered ... or do I just keep quiet? What are the implacations if I keep quiet and what do I do with the delivered furniture?
  • I have one or two custom fit panels for an MFI Hambledon range, together with a few odds and ends which weren't used when our bedroom was fitted. I really need a replacement drawer front and would be only too pleased to buy one from somebody that has one, or swap for some of the bits I have.
  • MFI have updated their website again today. At the bottom there's a note about Homebase giving 10% discount (how generous....not!) on any new orders for Kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. I went into my local Homebase to check out the bedrooms and all they had were sliding door type but evidently they've just started doing fitted wardrobes. There's a link on their website and the brochure is available to view online.

Unfortunately they don't do anything that is an exact match to the wardrobes I wanted from MFI (Camden), but thought this info might help somebody.

To receive the discount you need to email the administrator to prove you had an order with MFI. Details on website now: https://www.mfi.co.uk
