  • hey guys.

i cant get an answer from either of the numbers i have
for mfi, the message says leave your number and we'll call back
in 3 hours..... what a joke!!!

any way i got delivery of a sofa from mfi ages ago,
however it was the wrong sofa, rang them on the day
as the delivery guys said they couldnt take it back....
mfi delivery guys came again took the sofa and gave us another
one... ALSO THE WRONG ONE BUT THE SAME AS THE FIRST... OMG

Rang them again and they said they had our right sofa ready to
    be delivered from the warehouse.....

then company went to the wall...

So now i have a sofa wrapped up in my dining room
waiting to be exchanged for the one i ordered.

Am i being silly to think that maybe i might get the one i ordered!
(they did say it was ready to be despatched before.)

The wrong sofa i have in my dining room doesnt fit my sitting room
so its not like i can just cut lmy loses!!

    any thoughts?

should i try ringing that Adrian Miller guy????

    many thanks.

The MFI delivery company has texted me to say that they have my bathroom - due for delivery on 26th November. When I log onto their website to arrange for the delivery it asks me for approx £430. They texted me again the other day and, when trying to log onto their site to see what "competitive price" they're now offering me, that part of their website is down. Does anyone know if they've gone into administration as well?!!

Also, trying to get my £1700 (bathroom and fitted wardrobes) back from CapitalOne and am having no luck at all. Has anyone else tried to get a response from CapitalOne? If so, I'd like to hear how you've got on!

I paid for my kitchen by Capital One card. I rang them the other week to see what I needed to do and it was ridiculous. I spoke to someone abroad - somewhere - who knew NOTHING about MFI. I persisted through her comments about claiming the money from the firm concerned DOH!!! and finally got to speak to someone in England.

His name was Martin and the number of the Disputes department is 01158433793. He was helpful and sent us out a form. We can't claim yet because our delivery isn't due till January but at least he knew who MFI were!!
    Hope this number is useful.

I've been trtying to get a refund from my card for non delivery of a kitchen. The card company asked for the invoice breakdown that made up the total of the payment on the card. I sent them a copy of the invoice.
On Saturday I received this reply from them:

"We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence dated 9 December 2008 regarding transactions for MFI Furniture Centres which have appeared on your account.

We have since received an update advising that the acquirer of MFI are attempting to credit the accounts of all impacted cardholders for all orders not delivered from the beginning of November. We have been advised that if the card hasn't been credited by the end of December then we can pursue the usual procedures."

So if MCR don't make a refund by the end of December looks like it will take another 30-40 days after that before the credit card will make a refund.

Is there any way of speeding up this process or is it just a case of waiting now?

If you look on this site under section 75 refunds I think the following covers your situation quite nicely.

If the retailer/supplier has gone bust
Here it is quite clear cut, you can’t go to anyone else so the only option is to claim off the credit card company. Call it up and politely explain what you’re doing, do ensure you invoke the rules though, actually say “I am making a claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act”. It should then send you a claim form in the post.
Sometimes the card company will tell you it will try and reclaim the cash from the company in administration. You can simply answer, “great news, I wish you the best of luck. However you are completely liable for my goods yourself, and I would like the full amount I’m entitled to please, regardless of that claim.”

    i like the wording

I had a phone call today from MCR saying that my Kutchen labs kitchen is in their warehouse and would I like to collect it, the deal was that it would be collected "as seen" with no warranty for the original price on my invoice, As my order is financed by black horse 0% scheme I would then have to claim back the fitting , delivery & costs from black horse as they would not now happen.

I have my own thoughts on how to reply but value others opinion on this.

  • I started planning for my kitchen with MFI in June of this year. We did a few alterations on the invoice but they could not do us a whole fresh one as they said it would have to go through the system again. Some of the items were cheaper too. We were told it was going to be 6,900 and we took out the interest free loan which is to start in June 09. The loan amount is actually £6000 and we had a floating amount of 900:00 which we had to pay off before the delivery, however some of this was offset against some of the alterations. Initially they asked for a £50:00 deposit against an alteration and then we altered our order again and paid another £100:00. We eventually decided we would like our order delivery for Nov and so we were given the delivery date of Nov 22nd and told to pay the balance of £501 otherwise I would not get my kichen. I ofcourse paid but did not get my kitchen delivered. Further to this I chased this up and was promised another delivery date 6th December which ofcourse did not happen as MFI had by this time gone into administration. Further to this I have received a letter from the blackhorse stating confirmation of receipt of goods and payment details. I must say I am worried about the finance side of things as I have not got my goods. I am ofcourse going to try and claim through section 75 as I paid by debit card but it was in bits. I have tried to contact MCR but they are not too helpful. I have since sent a letter to tell them I do not want this order, I want them to deal with the blackhorse and cancel the agreement as they have not kept their side of the deal and that I would like my money refunded. Of course there are lots of other people who I understand have parted with more money but I do not think I should have to go any further with this its an absolute nightmare. Anyone got any solutions or is anyone out there getting anywhere with similar sort of situation.

I'm in a similar situation. I spent over £2.5K on a bedroom suite to discover that the sales rep had forgotten to order one item on the plan. Several other !!!!-ups by him meant that when he did finally order the item, I got it free of charge..Only 4 months later, I'm still waiting for it. So, I'm without this one item which I need and am going to have to spend 3x the original amount to get it made up in non-matching veneer but because it went through as a separate, single order with a zero value against it I don't think I'm going to get a refund.

If anyone thinks differently, please let me know. In all honesty, I just want the item. I've already told them I'll travel to wherever in the UK to collect it.

I have been trying to find out if there is a supplier i can go to, to get the remaining doors, plinth, cornice & pelmet etc for my MFI Grigio kitchen but have had no luck. I would drive to the Hygena depot even if it is John O Groats! I currently have a 3/4 fitted kitchen with some very obvious holes where units etc should be

Hi i need a wall end panel for a cupboard in Grigio - ive hunted around and think ive seen that B&Q on their website do a similar range to Grigio - its cream with yellow which looks very similar. Have a look on B&Q website. No one else seems to do anything similar at all.
  • Guys , if looking for bits and pieces, really do try contacting Howdens.

My entire new kitchen was due for delivery beginning of December - obviously not arrived - credit card company claiming S75 claim with them.

Took original quote and breakdown to Howdens who supplied at only £100 more expensive. Was delivered 2 days after payment and my brand new kitchen is now fully installed and working.

They certainly saved the day with us - and I would thoroughly recommend giving them a call :T

I popped to Howdens and they couldn't help me? boo hoo. Nothing similar to the Kennington Range:confused:
  • Hi all,

Not sure if it helps or has been posted already but (ssshhhhh - top secret!) B&Q are doing 50% off all their kitchen UNITS in January. Not the doors though.

Plus 15% off EVERYTHING in store as of Xmas eve, but not sure when that runs out.

HTH, and sorry for any of you who have been affected by this situation - my friend lost her job at MFI so a hard time for staff and customers. :(
