2. If a customer has paid by credit card (or VISA Debit card) and has received an incomplete delivery, the customer will be asked to contact their credit card provider to initiate a partial refund of their order. The Administrators will liaise with the merchant service provider to confirm short deliveries and to ensure all valid refunds are issued as quickly as possible.
Thanks to Blowdog for the quote, but what good is a partial refund? I've got 60% of the bedroom furniture but what good is it without the rest of the furniture??
Is there any way that I can insist that the furniture is taken back and then receive a full refund via the credit card company??0 -
My feelings exactly.!!!
We have 99% of our order but what good is a matching fitted bedroom when we can't finish the wardrobe without the mirror doors?
Looks like we are only going to be refunded for the wardrobe but I don't want the rest if I can't have a matching wardrobe!!!0 -
We are in the same boat. We have the vast majority of the kitchen here, which we are unable to fit due to missing/damaged parts that we can't get elsewhere.
I have worked out that if they only refund for the missing and damaged parts, we would get around £1500 back (fat chance). Even if we did get it back, it would not enable us to complete our kitchen to a satisfactory standard. I have not spent a total of £10k on a kitchen just so that it has to bodged to be usable.0 -

A few things here:
1) If MCR sell the order book to say B&Q, who is to say that the product they supply you with is of comparable quality to that of MFI?
2) Are MCR allowed to sell your details on to a 3rd party under the Data Protection Act anyway?
3) If they cannot sell the order book, MCR say they will refund people who have payed cash/chechue/non-visa debit card. Surely people in this stuation are in the same position as the trade creditors and will have to wait months before this is sorted out?
4) If you have only lost your deposit and are in desperate need of your kitchen, bathroom or bedroom, my advice would speak to another retailer (not a DIY firm as they have fixed pricing but someone like a builders merchant, Howdens or Magnet) who may do you a deal to the value of your lost deposit. Times are tough at the moment in the industry and they might take a lower margin deal before the January sales start.
If you are lucky enough not to be caught up in the MFI situation and are looking for a new kitchen/bedroom/bathroom in the near future, make sure that you choose a retailer who will accept staged payments (instead of all up front) or use someone who is a member of Trustmark http://www.trustmark.org.uk where your payments are protected by an insurance backed warranty.
Refunding the value of missing items is a complete joke as many people will not be able to complete their projects without these items. This is not morally right!0 -

I have been trying to find out if there is a supplier i can go to, to get the remaining doors, plinth, cornice & pelmet etc for my MFI Grigio kitchen but have had no luck. I would drive to the Hygena depot even if it is John O Groats! I currently have a 3/4 fitted kitchen with some very obvious holes where units etc should be0

Anyone know the answer to this one?
Say MFI manage to sell the order book (as they say they are trying to do). Then the "newco" with the order book fail to deliver or go bust etc etc.
My original MFI order is by credit card but MFI sell the order book, does the section 75 protection pass through to the "newco" or would I be struggling to make a claim ?0 -
I've been trtying to get a refund from my card for non delivery of a kitchen. The card company asked for the invoice breakdown that made up the total of the payment on the card. I sent them a copy of the invoice.
On Saturday I received this reply from them:
"We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence dated 9 December 2008 regarding transactions for MFI Furniture Centres which have appeared on your account.
We have since received an update advising that the acquirer of MFI are attempting to credit the accounts of all impacted cardholders for all orders not delivered from the beginning of November. We have been advised that if the card hasn't been credited by the end of December then we can pursue the usual procedures."
So if MCR don't make a refund by the end of December looks like it will take another 30-40 days after that before the credit card will make a refund.
Is there any way of speeding up this process or is it just a case of waiting now?0 -
Did anyone see watchdog yesterday - they're going to have an update on their website towards the end of the week - not sure what they're going to be able to tell us.
Maybe we should start placing bets on who is going to buy them out - then we could get some of our money back through the bookies.
I've contacted my cc company about claiming back my deposit and all they seemed to want was a letter from the administrators (copy of what was on the website was deemed acceptable) and copy of invoice - have sent it off so will watch this space.
I didn't have a date for delivery or fitting as my order was placed late in november so hadn't had an initial visit - even if they are taken over I'm not sure that I want to continue with the order - what are my consumer rights in this situation?
I haven't yet paid off my credit card so will they still take the minimum payment this month in relation to this item?0
