PLEASE SEE BELOW STATEMENT UPDATED ON MCR WEBPAGE:
ITV advertisement
A television advertisement in respect of MFI Group Limited was aired on ITV on 11 December 2008.
The advertisement was aired without the consent of the Joint Administrators and against our explicit requests to have the advertisement withdrawn.
When we became aware that the advertisement was scheduled to be aired on ITV, we took all reasonable steps to have the advertisement withdrawn.
The Joint Administrators confirm that they did not place the advertisement and that we are taking steps to try to ensure no further advertisements of this nature are aired.
Am I stupid or does this mean MFI are still trading and trying to sell stock without consent from the administators??? MCR are a joke if the have no control over the likes of this, how is anyone going to get a refund or their kitchen delivered if MFI are allowed to sell stock from their warehouses and sell kitchens that have already been paid in full by other customers!!!0 -
The MFI delivery company has texted me to say that they have my bathroom - due for delivery on 26th November. When I log onto their website to arrange for the delivery it asks me for approx £430. They texted me again the other day and, when trying to log onto their site to see what "competitive price" they're now offering me, that part of their website is down. Does anyone know if they've gone into administration as well?!!
Also, trying to get my £1700 (bathroom and fitted wardrobes) back from CapitalOne and am having no luck at all. Has anyone else tried to get a response from CapitalOne? If so, I'd like to hear how you've got on!0 -
We purchased our kitchen in August and it was partially fitted in October. We are still waiting for a number of items to be delivered and installed (nae chance!).
We took out the instore finance through Blackhorse. At the time, I was under the impression that this was a loan but Blackhorse are now telling me that I have actually signed up for a store card for which they have provided the credit. According to Blackhorse, I need to get the MFI administrators to credit a refund to the card, otherwise I'll need to pay them back. Surely this can't be right. Has anyone else had any experience of Blackhorse Finance?
I've noticed a few other posts from people with incomplete orders/Blackhorse finance - does anyone know where we stand?
I am in a very similar situation to yourself. Sorry i am not able to help you with your query at present. However i did complete the section 75 template letter (from this site) and post it to Black Horse finance a few days ago so i shall let you know the response once i hear back from them....not holding out much hope at the minute!!
I must say though, I am only £500 out of pocket which i realise is short change compared to many others....fingers crossed for everyone.0 -

According to the administrators website http://www.mcr.uk.com/News.aspx?articleID=76 anyone waiting for deliveries upto 7th December is out of luck and their orders are now cancelled. Their comments regarding refunds are not looking promising either, I quote "
As a consequence, those customers who paid by credit card should now contact their credit card providers directly in order to seek a refund.
Those customers who paid by cash, debit card or cheque will be contacted shortly, to advise them as to the status of any possible refund."
Anyway onto the swopshop route .......... I am looking for the following:
SPACE CREAM 1000mm HighLine Base Unit x 1
SPACE CREAM 500mm HighLine Base Unit x 1
SPACE CREAM 1000mm FullHeight Wall Unit x 2
SPACE CREAM 300mm Larder Door x 1
CHUNKY HANDLES 610mm x 4
I have some space cream bits I don't need, so let me know if you are short.
Dr. Options
P.S. Howdens do supply very similar kitchens to MFI, so they might be worth a try if you are missing bits, although their 'Gledevon Cream' is a slightly different shade to MFI Space Cream.
Hi I am afraid I do not have any of the bits you need, but ebay and the friday ad allow you to advertise for wanted items free.
I am wondering if you have three chunky wall end panels which I could buy from you, in fact anything chunky that could be cut down might be useful.
sorry i can't be of more help. It is very frustrating to have only a part finished kitchen.
Good Luck.:cool:0 -
Hi We are 5000 out of pocket at mo, paid on Barclays CC, Cap One CC and 500 on visa debit. Cannot do anything about debit yet as mcr are still saying they are trying to pay cash payers back ha ha, barclays sent forms within a couple of days and am waiting to hear from them, spoke to cap one on 1st dec, had not received anything by 11 dec so called them back, (waited because call centre staff do not have a clue!) anyway they are sending out the forms again. Will let you know if i get them.0

Hi everyone,
If anyone needs handles or door knobs and door pulls for kitchen or bedroom units please e.mail me a.christie@btinternet.com with either the MFI number or a digital photograph and I will try to help you out.I have literally hundreds, but I`m not sure what handles etc went with which units.I do have a couple of brochures that I managed to find in my local branch.
I also have some items for the Space Burgundy kitchen-end panels and pelmet, doors and handles. These are from a display kitchen that I bought.

Good luck to you all.

I notice that the MFI website has been updated today 14 Dec with Friday's date of 12 Dec. No new news.
Does anyone remember what happened when DFS went bust years ago? Weren't all the customers left in the lurch only for the managment to buy up all the bankrupt stock and start the company up again? I hope this doesn't happen here. I really don't want to have to pay twice to get a piece of furniture I'm due although I do want my furniture.0 -

Hi - according to the details on this website - you can claim the visa debit payment you made along with the credit card payment you made. Im pursuing this at the moment through my bank mastercard. That way you dont have to wait - look under credit cards on here and see that no matter what you paid on credit card the whole amount is guaranteed.0 -
My MIL ordered a kitchen and paid £1k deposit she paid by credit card. The kitchen wasnt to be fitted until Jan 09. Her CC company said they are not liable, I told her about the section 75 of the consumer credit act. I seem to recal it mentions something about if items are individual priced then you are not covered0

Hi there,
We purchased a kitchen from MFI a couple of weeks before they went into adminstration. The units are meant to be delivered tomorrow but there is no chance that is going to happen now.
When I do get through to the Administrators on the phone all they do is read out the blurb that is on their website.
I paid a deposit on a Nationwide Credit Card and then the full amount on the Nationwide Credit Card. Given the particularly unhelpful nature of the Administrators, should I speak to Nationwide to ask for a refund now or will I need something in writing to say the order has been cancelled (the latter of which I don't yet have!)?
Thoughts much appreciated as I'd like my £2k back!0
