I seriously doubt if you paid a deposit by cash/cheque (like I stupidly did) that you will see any of it back.

This is also the view of the Administrator. If you read para 8.16 of the Statement of Administrators Proposals (which is tucked away as a pdf download at the bottom of the MFI website) they state basically that they do not think they will be able to raise sufficient funds to repay non preferential creditors (ie customer deposits, fitters etc etc)

I would also doubt that they will be able to complete any partially completed orders. Many of the suppliers have apparently asserted Retention of Title over unpaid stock sitting in the warehouse, which apparently is £40m quids worth.

I dislike using credit cards but have been taught an expensive lesson.

The Administrators are doing a poor job of communicating with customers and I do not believe that is because of incompetence. They know what reaction they will get when they deliver the news and are just trying to delay that. Personally I think in such a public company collapse they should be doing a better job in dealing with the public. The DTI should be taking more interest in this process.
  • hi there, I ordered a kitchen in august under the MFI Slate scheme with Black Horse and was due to start paying this month. My kitchen order has been cancelled as it was due for delivery on 2 December. I haven't had any contact regarding the finance agreement and no payments have been taken. I've not ordered a new kitchen as I'm wary of the agreement i signed and don't want to have to pay for that and buy a new kitchen. i'm just not sure where I stand. can anyone help?

    Hi,
We had about 3/4 of our kitchen delivered back in November, some of which was damaged. Two new delivery dates were given for the remainder of the kitchen and replacement of the damaged parts. Obviously, these deliveries haven't been made.
I spoke to the administrators who said that I would have to wait until 18th Dec before they could tell me anything. Went into the MFI store that I bought the kitchen from, and they said that any missing parts would be refunded.
My question is, how can I build a kitchen with a lot of bits missing and no way of replacing them, and what happens if, when I open all of the boxes, I find that other doors etc are damaged?
Do you think that I have a case for trying to get a full refund? They can come and collect what we have got because quite honestly, it is worthless to me whilst it is incomplete.
I did not pay thousands of pounds for a decent kitchen just to have to botch it together with mis-matched parts in order to build it.
Sorry for the rant, but I guess that like the rest of you, I am peed off :-(
I am in exactly the same position. My builder is installing the kitchen today and I don't know whether to apply for a full refund too. They can rip the whole thing out for all I care.
  • Just been over to Magnet trade to see if i can get my other bits for my kitchen,They have the same size worktops 3mx600x38 woodblock i can have five for 325.00,they have the 935x935 corner units and the same colour clad on ends as the kennington, so if i haven't heared by the end of the week i will be getting them myself, and MFI can stick them where the sun dosen't:T shine.

I consider myself fairly lucky compared to some. I have had half my kitchen installed since September and the remainder is sitting in my garage(I hope!).

I am interested in finding out whether I am able to claim my fitting costs back from my CC company? Is anyone else in this situation?

My fitters were untrustworthy and I suspect that they may have signed the job as finished when it is not, in order to get their payment from MFI.

I havent received a letter from the administrators yet and this concerns me greatly.

Any info from anyone in a similar position would be helpful.
