How about....for those who are just too nice to say no.
Go along with it, then get your significant others to call you in sick in Christmas morning - you've been sick all night.
Then, spend the morning in pjs - get dressed about 11 - it will make you feel better. Call the relatives about 2pm to say happy christmas and sorry you couldn't see them - you are feeling better but no way are you going out today.
Then...sit back and enjoy the day.0 -

Thanks for the offer
We're going to stay with the in-laws this christmas, for the first time. We'll be there for christmas eve and christmas morning, the children are looking forward to it. We stay overnight about once a month but haven't been there for actual christmas before. MIL is a fabulous cook

Make sure there are no photos of you scoffing chocolates while the children open their stockings though! :rotfl:
Not that I eat loads of chocolate before breakfast on xmas day, of course, but some people might...

Or look at it from another view. We have not mother or father in law, and I have no mom or dad. I would give anything to go to there house, so be thankful for what youve got x0

Been there, done that! It works! :T (and not just at Christmas either)
Although, it only works if childless or have very young children as slightly older ones tell Nannys and Granddads everything, including Mummy eating soooooo much...... (and therefore not ill....)0 -

It's amazing how appetites can come back after a night of sickness...0 -

Whilst I can see this is really tempting, don't forget this is a one time only deal. Next Christmas you'll be on the road again. And of course your mum will know that it's not true and you will have put her to the trouble of planning for you to come and then disappointing her. Personally I'd say go with the short term loss, long term gain strategy
