  • I made this in a small loaf size as I find it gets eaten quickly and is best when very fresh. If anyone wants the bigger sizes let me know.

    1 1/4 cups of water (10flox)
1 cup of white stong flour (4 1/2 oz)
1 1/4 cups of granary flour }the next two should total 9 oz
    1 cup of wholemeal}
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil
    1 tsp easy blend yeast.

place ingredients in breadmaker and bake on basic white setting.

Just made a lovely Chocolate Loaf so thought I would share the recipe here:

    2 & 3/4 cups white bread flour
    1/4 cup cocoa powder
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup milk (warmed to a temp between 21 and 28C)
    1 medium sized egg (beaten)
    1 tablespoon butter (melted)
    4 tablespoons honey
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp yeast

Into a bowl sieve together the white bread flour, cocoa and cinnamon. Place the ingredients in the bread pan in the order in which they are listed above, adding the flour mixture after the salt and before the yeast (I followed my panasonic instructions here and put the yeast in first and flour mix on top of that and then all the other ingredients) Set the programme to basic. Or if like me you wanted to add choc chips pop the chips into the dispenser and set programme to raisin.

This is yummy spread with black cherry jam!

Recipe comes from "One Hundred bread Machine Recipes" by Vicki Smallwood which is full of lovely recipes.

I think you have to think of it as chocolate cake rather than bread. You can then understand the concept! Bread - cake, potato - potatta, whats in a name? ;)

Can't believe I have never heard of this book before but I found it yesterday afternoon in a charity shop! You are right. there are a lot of the great recipes in there.......so couldn't decide which one to make first... but now will have to try that chocolate loaf. The other chocoate loaf recipes I have tried before have never really been chocolately enough......so I like the idea of adding chocolate chips.... will have to dig out my measuring cups as I have never use them in my panasonic!

I asked this in the Morphy Richards BM thread, but I thought I would ask in here.

Can anyone tell me how I get the right water temperature?

What should it feel like, as I do not have a thermometer.
