I'm using up everything in my cupboards as we're moving next week, so here's a question: can I make bread with Ready Brek?
(Have already made cookies with it and still have loads to use up!)
) and 300g flour. It probably would've been better to use 200/400, and to bake it properly (I used the quick bake program).
Anyway, bread was nice and got eaten.0 -
Is my loaf "sunk"? the top of it goes in slightly rather than curving out like the fresh loaves you can get in the shops. If so, how can I rectify this? I follow the recipe to the T, although don't add any wheat gluten as I can't find any. Any ideas????? Or is it ok like this and I'm worrying for nothing!!!Official DFW Nerd no. 082! :cool:Debt @ 01/01/2014 £16,956 Debt now: £0.00 :j

Sounds like it's a little bit dry. But the point is how does it taste?"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0 -

Mine never does either. The crust is always thicker and chewier. the only time I've managed a shop like crust is when I made english muffin bread ( BM for Dough and Oven for Baking)."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." What sort of breadmaker do you have?
I have a panasonic and find I have to use a lot less water than the recipe states - (that's what I get for living in the boggy fens... ) I use 300ml and the recipe says 350ml. My loaf kept caving in on top until I used less water.
If you use strong flour you won't need to add wheat gluten.

Get my panasonic breadmaker today (a week after ordering it) and am so excited that I dreamt about it last night
Boyfriend is desperate to make pizza for dins tonight so will have to wait for actual bread until tomorrow morning, I suspect.
I think he is more excited about this than he was about getting his latest techy gadget so hope it all goes well0
