I know how you feel as we have just taken DD back to university and I will not see her for three months but it is lovely when she does come home as we really appreciate each other and I know that she is happy where she is.

Got home late for DD (11) and she was not amused with us - journey was not too bad until the last 2 miles when we were stuck behind a tractor.

I love the image of the stair lift draped in fairy lights and tinsel and can just see you holding a toffeee apple as you whizz up and down! The idea of thinking of it as an implement that you can choose to use as and when you wish is a really good one.

Here's hoping you do not need it as much as you dread!

PP, please do not feel that having a stair lift is a sign of weakness, it is not, there are times when you will need it and others when you will not, as far as your family are concerned perhaps its time to admit to them that all is not well and you need a little help....... not pity, you are coping so well with your illness with help from those people who love you.... having a stair lift in the house will not make the house look as if a cripple lives there, just a home where someone needs a little help at times.

    Keep your chin up.........

If you think Johannes post sounds exciting, you should have heard her on the phone to me - 55 minutes from my HOME phone to her MOBILE  but I can't blame her, even our house is a palace in comparison to hers and we don't have CH!!! :p Good luck Jo!!! *fingers crossed*

Not much old style left now. Going to go have veg stew now, couldn't buy fresh meat anywhere today as all the local shops were either closed or sold out and there was no way I was taking DD to Asda (it was 3pm when I realised I couldn't get meat at the butchers or Co-op and she comes out of school at 3.15 so no time for Asda!) just for a few bits of dead animal! Never mind, I'll go the butchers tomorrow and get a little bit and we'll have stew again tomorrow night but with meat and dumplings!;)

johanne - the house sounds fab - hope it all works out.

pp - sorry you're feeling down - it's understandable, but look at it as for emergency use only. use it on your bad days - instead of sapping your energy.

hugs to all under the weather.

if it's not too much trouble could someone send me the info on the paid to clicks - it would be much appreciated.

feeling pretty rotten myself the last few days. eldest step son has added to my mood by being a cheeky so and so. he's not been that bad - just going through the huffy becoming a teen stage! everytime he does it it makes me mad but am trying my best to put up with it.

did a clearout of filling system and have shredded and recycled the rubbish. need to find and parcel some amazon & ebay stuff to be posted tomorrow.

    bye

    Evening all!

Didnt get chance to post this morning as I had a crasher on my sofa and didnt want to wake him up with my incessant tap tap tap....

Had a lazy brain day today, it wouldnt work and I couldnt count all that well, fortunately I balanced at the end of the day though. I had a good one though, had to take the 'brief' and won my own competition ironically, earning me chocolate (I cannot get slim when there is so much tempation!) and then got a mysterious email about my bonus, earning me £150 in vouchers. I ordered them immediately, just in case its a mistake, and also because I want them quick - im off work from Tuesday and want to spend them as its my birthday (wednesday) and need a treat this week! Fingers crossed they arrive and they arent a mistake!

Got home to my freebie teeth whitening kit and jd calendar - all in all a busy and tiring but profitable (for me!) day!

I need to go and eat (and browse the argos catalogue for potential wants) and sleep. Have a good one all!

    Jo xx

    evening all.

3 out of 4 in bed and asleep (thank goodness) oldest watching simpsons.

had a busy day today, walked into town this morning, did a few bits of shopping, went to the bank, posted some letters etc and came home and had a nap with the baby.

this afternoon i cooked a roast for dinner and we had ice cream for pudding. lunch was HM mushroom soup and bread. breakfast was crumpets.

have declared my car SORN as of today. cant afford the MOT, or the car tax because of huge mess up with direct debits sent me overdrawn by £5 and have incurred charges of over £200 because bank then bounced all my direct debits (they all come out either 28,30 or 1st) so very pi***d off today. they have refunded just one lot of £38, which doesnt really help. paid enough money in there to get me back in the black again (£2.15) in credit now, but have had to cancel all my direct debits to prevent anymore charges, so will be going through the long process of setting them all back up again

ive got a stonking headache now, januarys budget is scr**ed.
what a start to the new year!!!

Hi All, I have had fun and games today. First of all found out that a carpet I was given ended up smelling out my hallway, with cat pee! Managed to get OH to dump it in the shed for now. Never mind. A stressful day at work (nothing new), and a screaming toddler when I got home.
Have had a good time though on the readit, swapit site. Have arranged swaps for a few books I've been after. Will be nice to have some new stuff to read.:D Had a nice day yesterday though, as my out-laws finally graced us with their company (after messing us around twice this week already) and brought us our belated Xmas presents. DS had fun with his Thomas toy, and would not stop playing with it. Have a good night to all of you.

I've really enjoyed reading this thread today, it really seems to embody the OS community at its best.
Some have shared their woes and found comfort in the friendly words of others. Some have shared their joy and made others feel happy for them. And some have just posted fun things to make us all laugh. Fantastic! Thanks one and all.

Things in the hornet household go on much as usual. Still working at the disaster recovery site while our offices are fixed following the oil depot fire. Every cloud has a silver lining - we get taken on a coach, so saving oodles on petrol, and sandwiches are supplied so don't have to faff around with packed lunches.
Best of all, I haven't had to spend a bean on groceries yet in January as firstly there was so much left over after Christmas and secondly I've had a couple of supermarket mystery shops to do. First food shop will therefore be this Thursday in Tesco. I've got a £4 off a £40 shop voucher, so will spend as near to £40 as I can - ideally about £40.01!!
  • evening,
    JOHANNE......... the house sounds fabulous!!!!

JW.......what a lovely suprise with the vouchers!! have fun spending them.

MATH.......thankyou,thankyou,thankyou.....you are a star!!! will plough through them all tomorrow when i've got time to stay on here for a while rather than a snatched 5 mins here and there.

well im very, very happy!!! had my dreaded trip to the dentist.......and god knows what impression i've made previously but i walked in and he said change of plan.i wont be doing the extraction today.....if you look at this xray the tooth next to the one thats coming out needs a filling....so im referrring you so it will be done both at the same time under sedation...........wooooohooooo i really cannot describe just how much i hate the dentist and the fear it gives me.

also popped into the charity shop on the way home and bought the ELC happyland school complete with accessories for £2!!!! god i love that place!!! its £30 new and will be a fab pressie to put away for either my youngest dd's birthday in april or next christmas.
