    help everyone.

Now heres an intrguing development. well actually TWO developments.

1 - The idiot has now opened a case with Paypal, and paypal have deducted the £14 odd from my paypal. What can I do to dispute this?

2 - I have today received an email from his latest victim. He is claiming to this guy that his phone's screen is smashed. I have mailed him back with my experience.

Please help, what can I do to get this idiot off my back? He is trying it on with a LOT of others it seems, and he has now got Paypal to refund my money. What can I do , please?

I notice on Paypal's claims dispute console, I can either reply to his claim, or escalate it and end comms:

End Communication and Escalate to a Claim

pixel.gifpixel.gif By escalating this dispute to claim, you are choosing not to communicate with the buyer and asking PayPal to determine how the case should be resolved. You are agreeing to abide by PayPal's decision. For example, if a claim is decided in the buyer's favour PayPal may process a refund to the buyer using funds from your account.

PayPal will review any communication you may have had with the buyer and will contact you for additional information.

Once the claim has been escalated you must provide additional information in the Resolution Centre within ten calendar days. Failure to respond with additional information will result in this claim being closed in the buyer's favour.

    Additional Information
To escalate this dispute, please agree to the terms below and provide any additional information that you think would help with the investigation.
pixel.gif I'm willing to provide information to help PayPal investigate and resolve this case in a timely manner
pixel.gifpixel.gif The information I've provided so far is accurate

Should I just take this action, get Paypal to review the emails he's been sending me, and provide evidence he's tried it on with others?

Indeed, let paypal handle all the communication and complaint handling from now on.

You've mentioned that you've replied to his emails. Please, please, please tell me you've done all your communication via ebay messages rather than by direct emails. If you've switched to direct emails, you just know this toerag is likely to modify the text of your messages to make him look like more a victim.

If all comm was done through EBay, and paypal have visibility of this, then there's not a right lot he's got going for him. He's changed his story on the damage, and there are significant variations in the phones he's sent.

You've remained polite and diplomatic throughout this. I know which one I'd prefer to deal with, and which side paypal would be most inclined to verify.

As this buyer seems to have a nice little collection of faulty phones it would be dead easy for him to take the good keypad off your phone an replace it with a broken one, he then complains and you roll over and give him a refund and he moves on to his next faulty phone with a big smile on his face

i sent MOST comms via ebay's message system, including the important ones which offer him a full refund. Please advise on what I should reply with? There are two ways to reply on Paypals disputes - one is dispute directly with the other person , and the other is a more 'serious' 'raise a case/complaint' which ends all comms with this person and lets Paypal deal directly with it. Should I take the second approach as this guy is clearly a waste of space?

Do you guys also advise I reply to Paypal saying that this guy has been trying it on with others, and give their user ID's and ask Paypal to confirm with those users directly?

Despite trading for 8 years on paypal/ebay I've never had to deal with a dispute like this so any help appreciated.

sadly, not ALL comm was sent through ebay, especially by this idiot. The initial email and the ones with the photos were sent outside ebay :(

Why not? what have you got to lose by using it?
  • I would escualte the paypal claim yourself if you havent and tell paypal of his other account and what you suspect and make sure you add all the photos to the claim which you can upload.

I would also tell paypal you have been contacted by another seller who believes too this buyer is pulling a fast one!
