I'd just like to ask them why they have treated people so shabbily? - not bothered about the camera really - I don't like the approach they have taken to dealing with a situation of their own making.
I am trying to track alternative methods of bringing it to the notice of the big boys - hopefully one will work and then !!!!!! will be kicked so that they learn from their unacceptable behaviour (maybe??). I'm sure they do not want the kind of consumer reaction to their so-called customer service that they are currently getting!!
AND as someone else has posted there's not much on the telly..................K eep

I've just spoken to Anne Goggin again - she called me back to save my phone bill - even better! And, she told me it was a pricing error but the error was made by someone trying to remove the camera from the system as they were out of stock and unable to supply them any more. Whether this is true or not I do not know, but I am prepared to accept it. She gave me her sincerest apologies.
I've asked her to put her apology in writing, and I've told her to refund me. Can't complain0 -

I received a call from them on Friday the 30th to confirm my postcode and was told it was being despatched - it hasn't arrived, but I've just received an e-mail from them telling me that my order for the Olympus E1 has been cancelled. I didn't order an E1, I ordered a Nikon Coolpix 5200 and I'm furious!! :mad:0

Anyway, full respect to everyone who's contributed and spent time on this. Shame I could only manage the 1 post (this one).0 -
I'm a full-time university student too - so yes, I was entitled to order unlike many people here. However, when things are like this they usually are too good to be true, so that's why I didn't expect to receive it. I ordered because I wanted one, and would have made use of it, and because it was a good price. I would have loved to have received it, and hoped that Apple had good enough Customer Services to deal with it, but I guess the best we could realistically hope for was an apology and refund.0

The cameras were withdrawn due to a pricing error; they are not available at that price, but will be at a higher price. I told her that this contravenes their T&Cs and she said no contract is formed between myself and Apple until they take payment. Think maybe I will call Trading Standards now.
2.3 When you place your Order, we will issue you with a Web Order Number. We will do this via the Apple Store Web Site, unless you have placed your Order by telephone, in which case we will issue your Web Order Number when you telephone us.
2.4 By placing an Order, you make an offer to us to purchase the Products you have selected on these terms and conditions. We may or may not accept your offer at our discretion.
2.5 If we accept your Order, we will notify you of our acceptance by issuing an Order Confirmation. We will send your Order Confirmation to you by e-mail provided you have indicated an e-mail address on your Order Form. Otherwise we will send the Order Confirmation by post. The Order Confirmation will be effective on sending. If we cannot accept your Order we will attempt to contact you by email or telephone or mail.
Surely this must be a contract, if not then no terms and conds are worth a light.
They offer at a price.
We accept their price and agree to pay
they send confirmation they accept our offer
They put hold on our money.
Surely it can't be more clearcut than this?
Nowhere does it say this is not an order until they take the money or despatch, unlike Dell and co.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
Dear g10.............
In a previous post I said I was "not bothered about the camera really" - simply because the longer this goes on the less likely it is that a camera will be despatched AND I've already sourced another - since I can't let everything wait until these issues are finally resolved.
I am bothered though about how we are being treated!
But for that I would have given up!K eep

I have just spoken to Apple and explained that they have cancelled something that I didn't order! The girl was apologetic, but couldn't explain what had gone wrong, then went on to tell me that the Nikon was delayed and wouldn't be despatched until 9/1.
I told her that that was unacceptable and that I'd had more efficient service from Morroccan street traders. I also told her that I expected some recompense for my time and trouble...................she said that once I'd received the item, they would make a gesture of goodwill and that, meanwhile, she'd try and get the Nikon priority shipped.I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0 -

Do you really need this? Does it make you happier?
My mate ordered one and didn't get it, but didn't kick up a fuss. You'll Never Be Rich Working for Someone Else0
