OK, just had a call back - which I was fortunate enough to record! She did tell me she was within her rights to hang up when I said the call was being recorded, but was very friendly and continued to talk to me.

The cameras were withdrawn due to a pricing error; they are not available at that price, but will be at a higher price. I told her that this contravenes their T&Cs and she said no contract is formed between myself and Apple until they take payment. Think maybe I will call Trading Standards now.

Im just waiting a callback from a supervisor now, I will say exactly the same thing and a contract HAS been formed as payment has been taken and cleared on my switch card since th 30th of december....

Consumer Direct lady said she is going to consult a specialist advisor and will call me tomorrow... Let's see what this brings. I don't expect to receive a camera, but Apple really are taking the p*ss with this one!

I will advise what info I am given tomorrow.

Well, Anne Goggin did phone me back, but I was driving so I couldn't answer it (good little boy me!). However, she did leave a phone message that said that yes, Olympus do have stocks of the camera and it is still available. However Apple aren't able to get stocks of the camera from them, and will be cancelling all orders and refunding to our accounts. I'm about to phone back and tell them I want to speak to her, which is why I asked her to call me when she was available. I just want an honest explanation goddamnit!

Any ideas on where to take this further? As I've paid by credit card and Barclaycard HAVE confirmed that it has been taken and not simply been put in a holding fund as usually happens, I'm tempted to let them fight it as it's now their money... However I feel they'll just be likely to say to Apple "Give us the £98.70 back and we'll leave it at that!".....

Hmmm what to do next I wonder!

at last someone gets somthink out of apple ....an issue number ..well at least its somthing ..you should consider yourself lucky ..out of curiosity ive spent the last hour or so surfing the web in search of steve jobs or anyone in authority at apples email address........what you discover is a very very secretive and tight organisation that has appaling customer service and a very very big legal arm. ummm when i say appaling i actually mean they are a very very very nice company.

LOL, you are really serious about this aren't you? The time used chasing your reduced-price camera, could've been spent being enterprising and generated some cash to buy one at 'regular' price.

yes and no ...im on holiday today... the telly is rubbish .....and this is sort of fun ....

but on a serious note ..i cant stand when someone takes the mickey out of me.....and apple has done it ..... i said hours ago a proper honest admission of being at fault would have done it for me ....coupled with somesort of goodwill gesture would have won apple praise from me ...but

LIES ..... nope please dont LIE to me ......
  • Here are the execs from Apple who may be worth targetting (if they can be found):

    APPLE

Their media cebtre may also be worth a pop as they no doubt have direct lines to the execs if trouble is brewing.

I ordered the Nikon Coolpix 5200 on 28/12. I received a call from them on Friday the 30th to confirm my postcode and was told it was being despatched - it hasn't arrived, but I've just received an e-mail from them telling me that my order for the Olympus E1 has been cancelled. I didn't order an E1, I ordered a Nikon Coolpix 5200 and I'm furious!!
