  • GRANTS? what era is that from? we have to pay the whole lot back now. No investment for future captains of industry anymore from the government.

God help us all if the future captains of industry are on this forum squabbaling over completely unimportant nonsense. Get your heads back in the books guys.

Having once spent £2700 on a Macintosh Plus (grey MkII version no less!!!, 10 whole megahertz processor speed) and an ImageWriter II dot matrix printer as a student, plus another £300 on a 40 MB (yes MEGABYTE) hard drive, I reckon Apple owe me an Olympus E-1 for such expenditure back in 1987 !!!

Interestingly, 'back in the day' (as they say), the computer centre at Hatfield Poly had nearly as many Macs as it did PCs...mind you they did have lots of green screen mainframe terminals as well, just so we could have the pleasure(?) of learning Fortran (whatever that was).

How about using your UCAS number? That should corrospond with a billing\delivery address name used to order.

at least 50% of students in HE did not go through UCAS

My order status has changed again now - shows as 'estimated' shipped by 30th Dec, instead of just shipped :(

They've changed the terms and conditions...
2.5 Whilst we will make every effort to supply you with the Products and/or Services listed on the Order Confirmation, there may be occasions where we are unable to supply these Products and/or Services because, for example, (i) such Products or Services are no longer being manufactured or available or (ii) we are unable to source relevant components or (iii) if there was a pricing error on the Apple Store for Education Institutions Web Site. In such circumstances we will contact you to inform you and may suggest alternative Products or Services that you might wish to purchase. If you do not accept our suggestions then we will cancel your Order and repay you any money that you may have paid to us in respect of your Order. Subject to clause 10.4, repayment of such monies will be the extent of our liability to you if we are unable to deliver to you the Products and/or Services you have ordered.

Smart move on their part but whether they try to apply it to this situation or not, that's another question.

    Two things:

    1. Student id marvelous to prove you are a student - unfortunately/fortunately us teachers don't get student id or even athens accounts - so how would we qualify?
    2. Microsoft have far lower protection for buying their software without proof. I recently bought office professional 2003 for way less than £100 no proof required. Why should apple want more. I guess though that if you are the type of person who would buy microsoft student software when you don't qualify you'd probably just download it and be done with it save the extra £100.

anyone got a saved page of the old terms and conditions?

they may try and say that updated terms and conditions were changed before any orders were placed!
