Search on Ebay for NUS card and you can buy supposedly genuine blank NUS cards valid for 2005/06 for less than a tenner. Should be enough for Apple. However, as I said before, we have bought this for our son who is at uni and have bought loads over the last few years from Apple Education on my hubby's card without any problem. The first time we ever bought anything from them my husband did contact apple to check that he could buy on behalf of our student son (via a phone call to customer services a couple of years ago). They said there was no problem providing we could provide evidence of son's student status if ever requested.

Well, in buying from the education store, you have to declare that you yourself are a student...

In terms of ID - I expect a scan of a student ID card would be sufficient.
Not a problem then as it was my daughter who ordered. I've got her card to hand if they phone or email.

I hope they do check ID of students too. There are too many people that just pretend to be students or NHS employees or whatever in order to get a bargain.. The apple education site is abused as it is. They should think about changing it to university servers and athens accounts only - all students have an athens account so that would make sense.

I agree - ATHENS account would be a good solution. I find it incredibly frustrating how so many people go for student offers they are not entitled to. This abuses is to the detriment of students, as offers get withdrawn, etc.
  • yes but you DO NOT have to be a student or teacher - read the Ts and Cs

"other supervisor of students at a UK education establishment"

Surely this includes teaching assistants and i guess even dinner ladies?

    Doesnt it?

Afraid not. All NUS Cards need to be registered and to register you need a valid university/college and student number (did NUS enrolement at my university). So the ones from ebay are no good for this purpose as Apple check the card numbers. They did this when i purchased my Ipod from the Apple store in Birmingham using my NUS card.
  • Has anybody got a status of anything other than

    Not yet shipped

I guess tomorrow will see a hive of activity but interesting to know if anybody GENUINELY has anything other than

    Not yet shipped

Afraid not, but there was a lady on here yesterday or the day before that said that her order had been shipped.

I think you will find that this means supervisors in the sense that they are responsible for the direction of some element of the student's studies;this is how I understand 'supervision' as opposed to making sure they eat their 'greens'! (as to which role has more long term value I am unsure)
