Im confused dont you have to remove the salt first by soaking or does the coke somehow eliminate it?

The coke draws out the salt while it's cooking. I always cook mine in coke now and I pour the coke that it's cooked in down the loo after. Happy tummies and sparkly toilet :rotfl:

I just put water in with mine and cook it for most of the day, it doesn't dry. Going to cook one on Saturday.

Be careful not to overcook it....I did once and it fell to bits. It was tender but not great if you're planning to slice it. I would give it four hours max in my slow cooker on high or six hours on low, but bear in mind that different slow cookers will give different results.

Cook it in Coca Cola, sounds mad but it is absolutely amazing. Place gammon in cooking pot, cover with coke and bring to a simmer until tender. It's gorgeous

It is disgusting in coke.. it just tastes wrong.. but I hate coke.

I put it in the sc on its own no water or stock or anything else and ignore it for 4 hours.. take it out and leave to stand for 20-30 minutes (in microwave out of cat reach!!) then slice it.

I do gammon in the slow cooker adding carrot, leek, onion, mustard powder, sliced apple and cider. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours. Always really yummy!
