OH & I opened a joint savings account a few years ago as Icesave started up, and opened an Isa's each in April this year. Surname 'S'

OH has had initiate on both accounts, I am still waiting.
There is no logic to who is being given the go ahead to initiate.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • To all you experts out there - are people with fixed rate savings accounts generally deciding to take the money from the FSCS and run? I'm a bit of a pessimist and I am worried if I leave the money until it matures and the economy's in an even worse state then (middle of next year) might I not get my money back? For the sake of losing a couple of month's extra interest is it better to have the money in my hands right now? Thanks

Logged in at midday today and couldn't initiate my claim. Got my email at 13:52 and have now clicked the buttons!

Good luck to those who are still waiting - your email will be with you soon!
  • Just got my second email this afternoon, but my wife hasn't got hers yet. FWIW my surname begins with O (and so does hers :)), my savings account was created in Jan 2007. Can't find the notes for the ISA accounts just now but they were created much later with hers most recently.
  • E-Mail finally arrived at 14:10 today. Closed out all but one fixed term account which will keep for the interest and go down the paper route. Glad that is over.

Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.
  • Got my second email today @ 14.14. Just done the claim, although it was a nervy few minutes because the web page kept falling over and I was under the impression I wouldn't be able to log on again if I had to start again. Finally managed to complete both a/c claims after much hitting of refresh & back buttons (sometimes one would work & then the other).

Think I made a mistake not taking the immediate electronic claim offer on the fixed bond though; it matures on the 6th Dec and now I'm going to have to wait 6 weeks for it.

Still, glad things are underway at last.
