    What is a certified copy?
    Cheers.

"A certified copy requires one of the following to certify the document as a true copy of the original: Professionally qualified person (e.g. lawyer, teacher, professor, engineer, accountant, surveyor), serving police officer, bank or building society officer, minister of religion, magistrate, FSA regulated introducer, post-master, GP, fireman, army sergeant, architect."

But you may not need it if they can do an instant electronic ID check using the electoral roll etc.

I did it online and asked to send application. Got it today and sent it back via registered post. No ID need as they did the electronic check so fingers crossed it will soon be up and running.

How did you get an electronic check? Who carried this out or can it be done on line?

    Thanks

And you clicked on 'Apply online', filled out the online form and then printed some forms off at the end???

Yes, it was all filled-in. Just needed a signature, cheque & the documentation already discussed. I think we decided my wife would need to prove who she was, as she has had to with other institutions, whereas I'm more easily checked electronically.

Yes they do it with your details entered. How it all works I've no idea but its a god send as it saves time and it saves them sending back ID info.

Applied yesterday, as already a member with a couple of accounts, and the account was done there and then, within 5 minutes. Checked again, they will allow up until 18th November for any extra money to go in. Sort Code is 40 63 01. Once you have your account no. you can pay in from any account you may have with another bank, provided you fill in sort code, acct no. If your bank does Faster Payments, then even better.

Hope it all goes smoothly for you but...
I entered online too and sent off the duly signed application form together with a cheque.
I did notice in the top right hand corner of the form it said ID REQ but I thought it was probably on all their forms.

They sent the application form back to me requesting ID

Every other bank/building society managed to verify my ID electronically so why they couldn't.

No choice in the end, but to send copy ID if I wanted the 6.25% fixed rate, easy access account.

I did give them a ring to make sure they did not require ID and the guy typed in my post code and told me they had checked by electronic means when I applied. He assured me none was needed.
    Did you print yours out?
The reason I rang them was there was no mention of ID on the forms and letters.

When mum and I opened accounts with them a while back, only mum needed to send id. We live in the same house, and on same electoral reg.
Same happened when we opened Post Office accounts.

Luckily, because she already has an account with Coventry, they didn't need id for the Poppy account.

Yes, I printed the form out but also spoke with them on the phone.

Hopefully you will not need to send ID.
