Looks like I'll need to chase sooner rather than later. Must admit the business of having to write password and three security answers on a bit of paper seemed weak. In fact when I put the form in the supplied envelope, I held it to the light and could see what I'd written! So I wrapped it in a folded A4 sheet then it was OK. Not that those details, even if intercepted, could have linked to me or the account (I hope).
Then they ask for your first school or one of the other two questions.
The annoying thing was that I knew I had typed the correct memorable word.
They ask for your WEB ID (which they will send you) and date of birth on the first page.
Then on the second, they ask for certain letters of your password... like 3rd letter, 5th letter, 8th letter, 10th letter.
My problem was my first school. I put down my first school, now you can't forget that can you. And you can only spell it one way.
They will not let you try one of your other memorable words if you get the first one they ask for - wrong.
With Nationwide, you are given a choice of your three memorable words - you choose. Much better system.
Maybe you won't have the trouble I've had, hope not anyway.0 -

 Does anyone know how long the security (password, memorable info) takes to be processed and be informed it is useable?
 And if quick, does anyone know if they are still accepting further deposits into a just opened Poppy Bond by any method, cheque or DD?
Although the Saga Fixed interest stuff I'm awating is a better interest rate, if I get online access to the Poppy Bond tomorrow I might just say damn Saga and let Coventry have that wedge instead. At least I know money clears quickly, though I don't know about online transfers. I see from the T&C's I printed out that one off DD's take three days to be credited and another 4 days to clear.
I am very impressed with Coventry at the speed of opening this account.
However 2 things definitely in my favour.I was already holding another online account with them so transferring from that was instant. Also my bank, the HSBC transfers money by DD within 2/3 hours.
I thought the deadline was Tuesday, that's what they told us.But yesterday i logged in to see i could still transfer across from my other account so i moved some from my bank into the access account and then after lunch,to the bond.So it is worth a try, they may still be allowing online payments .0 -
Just out of interest, i checked again this morning. There is no longer the facility to put any more into this account so am glad i did so on the 20th!!
Anyone still able to add to their accounts? or having problems?0 -

I thought the final day for receiving application forms and finances was 18th November0 -
They had a backlog of applications & cheques so extended the date to 20th to clear. I posted a cheque first class on Monday 17th and it was credited on the 20th. Very happy as I thought I'd missed out. So I guess that everyone working to the 18th as the last day will be Ok.0

Addition: I'm really impressed. I had a reply in 5 minutes :j They indeed confirmed no further payments were possible now.0 -
I think they have been very fair and given people as much chance as possible.Maybe they didn't realise what was happening with linked accounts, anyhow,i'm happy now till the end of next year.
As Sham63 says,so long as they received cheques by the 18th it would not have been fair to then not allow them to clear so i suppose they made 20th/21st the cut off date.
However,as we all know, whenever you phone or email it depends who you get.Companies are notorius for giving out different info to different people. No wonder we get confused!!0
