Halifax Faster payments (Not Working)

You've got that right. Today I logged in and tried a 500 transfer and it say yes FP available. I then did back and changed the amount to 600 to see if the limit had changed. Back to BACs. So back out and revert to 500. Still BACs. Tried 1.00. Still BACs. Log out and log back in again and retry. Still BACs.
This makes no sense at all. One minute it is working and the next it isn't.
update:
WARNING: do not click back when trying to make a FP.
My experience is this breaks FP and then it does not work for probably 10 days on past performance. I think the same probably applies to trying to make more than 3 payments or over 500. I suspect this perhaps flags the user as iffy and then FP are suspended.0 -
i'm truly shocked it's just let me do 2 x £500 faster payments to my tesco saver!!!! that's easily the most success i've had so far........
i agree with the above if you go back to try and amend the amount it seems to stop the faster payment being authorised!!:mad:0 -
I sent £500 yesterday (is that the single payment limit?) and it went through without incident......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

Just tried to make my 3rd £500 FP payment to Tesco and instantly received a phone call from the Halifax security dept!
He wanted to confirm that it is me making the payments and asked for my month of birth, second part of my post code and amount of overdraft.
It worries me because I will be in Hong Kong for 6 months from January and if they phone me again, there will be no one to answer the phone so they will probably put a stop on my account!0 -
i tried a 3rd £500 to tesco as well but didn't get a call........although it wouldn't go as a FP anyway0

Hi all,
I had the same problem a few weeks ago but found that if the receiving bank/building society etc... doesn't accept Faster Payments - as they're not set up then Halifax automatically reverts it back to a BAC's payment...
Not sure if that helps anyone...0 -
Tesco does accept faster payments. In fact, they were the first to send and accept FP up to £10K.0

If you login to Halifax and click the ringing phone in top right you can update your contact details with a mobile or alternate landline. Of course this assumes you take your mobile on holiday and have it on which I think it a large assumption given how much the mobile companies rip us off when we are abroad, especially outside the EU. Still if you are in HK for 6 months you'll probably buy a local mobile. I did that for that USA and only for 1 month (money saving starts at just 10 calls!).0 -
