I am confused.
My Standing order to Barclays Monthly Saving have not arrived yet (it always been quick) and my Faster Payment to Barclays Current Account few hours ago have not generated Faster Payment Confirmation email, straight away. Or does it happened IF the money go out or just when you finished the Transfer payment?
And no, I can't just ring them up either.
I imagine, as you didn't get the usual Faster Payments email, that the transfer may go by BACS instead (not sure though). The transfers that I made into my Halifax account (would normally go by Faster Payments) that haven't turned up said something like, transaction accepted but couldn't confirm when funds would be received.
Edit: Checked again and missing Faster Payments into Halifax account have now turned up.0 -
Update: My inbound payments have now all been credited to Halifax but my outbound payment to NatWest hasn't appeared there - even though it was sent first thing today. Hopefully the worst that can have happened is the standing orders (all to savings) will arrive at a later date......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0

I had a standing order to Natwest sent today, went by FP, and Natwest managed to show it first thing.
I tried sending a FP to Natwest earlier, but despite the fact it said it would be sent by FP, on the next screen (after clicking submit) it said it couldn't be sent by FP. Curiously this now shows on my statement as
Faster Payment - MY NAME (& £400 out)
with the next line up saying
Rejected From - MY NAME (& £400 in)
But the good news is that it's all working now! £400 sent Halifax -> Natwest, showed immediately, then back again, went straight in.0 -
I have a Halifax current account with a Faster Payments option.
In common with others I have had problems using this 'not guaranteed service'.
Six days ago I successfully made 5 FP's from Halifax to an external linked account. The sixth one was not accepted and in spite of trying for the last 6 days to make a FP I am not able to.
I phoned Halifax and they assured me there is no 'locking out' after making several faster payments, or up to a particular amount. He checked with their security section and they confirmed this. The online helpdesk were consulted and they agreed too. The operator then attempted to make a FP for £10 on my behalf and.............it was refused!! The operator can't understand it. It's 'never happened before' and I'm the first customer to have ever mentioned it!
I told him that there are several threads on MSE about problems customers of Halifax have had and are still having using Halifax Faster Payments so it's not just me but he remained unimpressed.
I just tried to make a FP for a nominal amount and it was........refused for the sixth day running.

I was wondering how long it would take before I could no longer make Faster Payments. So far the small amounts I've tried moving around have been accepted, until yesterday, when all failed. I think I remember someone posting on a Faster Payment thread, that they were advised by Halifax to remove the payment details, and reinstate, but I can't remember whether or not they said that it worked. It's so frustrating that, after 12 months of this system, so many organisations are still having "problems" with it, or not operating it at all. I don't understand (other than the obvious financial loss to the banks) why they're not being made to get their act together, when they had long enough to introduce the flippin' thing.0

I moved money from Barclays > FD > Halifax > Barclays all within minutes this morning. The Halifax payments had to go in £500 chunks as a box popped up to say that larger amounts would be sent in the usual 3 days or so.0

Exactly 7 days after being barred from using FP after making 5 consecutive FP's I was today allowed to make a FP.:rolleyes:0

Just failed with a £1k transfer to Cov BS (who do accept faster payments). Halifax custiomer services assured me fault was not at their end. I invited him to try any other of the transfers I had set up (all of whom accept faster payments). All failed, but he still insisted the problem was with the other banks.
What a shower!0 -

Do you have more than one current account with Halifax? I've found (including today) that payments not accepted for Faster Payments out of one (current) account often are out of a second account. (Just one reason - aside from the 'free' £5 - for setting up a second or third reward account)
Yes that is exactly what happened to me yesterday. I have 2 reward current accounts and I transferred 10 X £1,000 from Halifax to Lloyds by FP. The account the money was in would not let me FP so I did an internal transfer to the other account and all ten payments to Lloyds went through instantly!
