Halifax Faster payments (Not Working)

I contacted Halifax today and they confirmed the transfer had been sent on Friday 21st Nov. (account was debited immediately). I sent the online transaction at 2pm and it was confirmed as a faster payment. Bham Midshires are checking tomorrow with their banking operations dept. to see if they actually have had it. The exact same bank details were used only two weeks ago when i transferred funds that were received inside two hours !0

I think I have managed to get my Halifax account to do FP once.... and I think that was by pure chance! I transfer differing amount throughout the month from Halifax to First Direct (which does FP very well IMO) ranging from £20 to over £1k..... can't usually get it to transfer at least until the next day.... most annoying!'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0

I couldn't do a Faster Payment yesterday through my Halifax account, or about an hour ago... but I have just managed to put one through now... it's not to another of my accounts so cannot confirm if it will actually get there or not, but it seemed to go through fine...0

Just an update from yesterday, Birmingham Midshires credited the faster payment to my account today and backdated it to 21Nov., it was a system error at BM. I don't think the faster payment system will be on track until all banks update their systems.0

It only seems to work up to £500 at the moment, and only 2 payments per day.
Having been successful yesterday, I tried for £500 to the same account (Tesco) this morning, and it failed. Tried £400 and that went through.
So I tried for a second payment, nothing! It would not accept any amount at all for faster payment.
Rang Halifax and was told it all depends on the RECEIVING bank, they can refuse it! Even the Halifax girl could not put it through.
I tried again a couple of hours later, still it will not work. So what is going on? Are Halifax correct, or are they having me on?0 -

My experience is that with HBOS there is a huge random element. Occasionally it works but usually it doesn't. It doesn't seem to depend on the amount, and just because it works one day it doesn't mean that the next day it will work, even if you are trying to pay the same amount to the same account. It's hard to see that HBOS have any interest in getting FP to work.
If you want to see FP working properly, open an account with Tesco. Fast Payments from Tesco accounts work straight away, every time, and have done for months.
I guess it's not really surprising that Tesco are doing so much better than HBOS at the moment.0 -

Would you know Tesco's FP limit per day/per payee?
