I transferred £250 from Halifax to Coventry on Monday and despite the Halifax site saying "You have selected today's date. On this occasion we're unable to send this as an Immediate Faster Payment.", it did arrive in my Coventry account the same day!
    .
  • Halifax faster payment seems to work about 1 in 500 times!
Just tried it a few minutes ago and it said it would send it on 24th!
It's really worse than useless. If you can't rely on it, you have to use the slow system to make sure.
First Direct seems to nearly always work.

Strangely my HBOS business saving account does FP and both times I have tried that it has worked fine and once for more than halifax's minimal 500 limit. On the other hand halifax has been hopeless. For the last 4 days halifax FP has been off as far as I can see. No FP of mine has succeeded. I don't think halifax staff know what is going on - hopeless.

APACS tell me that trading standards are monitoring the FP botch up but my local TS say they haven't heard of this. I've made a formal complaint to halifax re poor service but they have yet to answer. IMO it is not on for a service to off for days and no one tell customers what is happening, or even seem to know themselves what is happening.

Transfered £250 successfully from Halifax current account to Egg savings account today by FP.

    That should keep Citibank afloat!

I just tried halifax to tesco FP and halifax to egg FP. Both fell back to a BACS transfer so halifax still is not working for me.

Today, 24 Nov, tried again and this time halifax to tesco and tesco to halifax FP both worked. Let's hope halifax have fixed the problem. Halifax still haven't answered my questions though, not that it matters IF faster payements keep working.

I transferred £150 from Halifax to Bham Midshires on 21Nov and it was confirmed online as a faster payment transaction. Today the funds have not been credited to the receiving bank and in this case a 3 day BACS transfer would have been faster.

I have used Halifax faster payments today.

It only seems to work up to £500 at the moment, and only 2 payments per day.

If the payment was requested on 21st (last Friday), then by BACS it would have been sent on Monday 24th, to arrive on Thursday 27th. So it looks like it probably did go via BACS, to arrive on Thursday.

BACS transfer on Friday should arrive on Tuesday on the normal BACS cycle providing it was originated by the cut off time (HSBC is 8pm not sure about other banks). BM shouldnt add more than a day if you pay to a roll number rather than direct to a sort code and account number.
  • FP working fine for me...

However, I've just spotted something that I'm sure wasn't there yesterday - the Direct Debit option under credit cards... perhaps they've been updating their systems? (DD doesn't work though... er, didn't. Does now :))
