You need to provide more information. Council? Private parking company? It would be useful to see the PCN if it's a council one, because that might not be right. And what was the contravention, etc?

If you don't pay it, the issuer (Council or PPC) will make an enquiry to the DVLA to get the registered keeper details. If the incorrect number they recorded exists, some other person will get a letter, and if it doesn't exist, they will chuck it in the bin. So don't pay, chances are you will hear no more about it.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.

But don't councils normally take photos of the alleged contraventions... assuming they bother to check the photo, that would show your correct reg number?

Yes it would, but it's what's on the PCN that matters and that can't be changed nor can a new corrected PCN be issued

My point was that anybody with a parking ticket problem is posting on this thread, so all one person's posts posts are interspersed with all the others. If for instance you want to follow Dosbody's posts and replies they are spread over 4 pages mixed up with other cases, making it almost impossible to follow. And that situation is likely to get worse as more people post here.

IMO It would be far better to make Parking a separate forum, given that on Penalty Charges and CAG the parking Forums are huge, things could get very messy and confused, especially as MSE have put up a Ticket Appeals Guide and are promoting it in the Newsletter

We appreciate that there are other forums available to discuss parking issues but if you want to discuss parking on MSE please do so on MSE, in order that we can help both existing and future MoneySavers wanting to appeal their parking tickets.

I re- iterate my previous post. If MSE is serious about helping users re: parking charges, there must be a separate forum.

As you say 'there are other forums available to discuss parking issues' and the key word is 'forums' not just one enormous thread.

How do I prove my innocence when I have never parked on or near the alleged road, never received a ticket, and first thing I knew about the offence was when I received the Notice to Owner through the post? What eveidence can I submit to the appeals tribunal in my defence? Please help, I'm quite worried.

No replies? I've never received a parking ticket before, and did not get one in this instance. Is it correct that parking tickets have to display your tax disc number? Someone suggested that my car might have been cloned, but that the tax details would obviously be different. Is it worth taking a picture of my car with tax disc and sending it to the tribunal? Yes, I have been to the other site, but it is very confusing to navigate, and I'm just looking for general advice. Thanks.

All very well but this so far seems disorganised mayhem - with no results or accurate information (I'll be given examples in a mo)

Surely the first thing you need to do is to separate threads and create a culture of one case one thread - as Burford said. Yes the facility may already exist but you have to moderate it and rearrange the posts as people are all ignoring it
One very important reason is that the payment and appeals processes for each case - not only vary from type of 'ticket' to 'ticket' but can easily be forgotten for each individual who posts.

Keeping track of dates and advising people within timescale is crucial.

Insisting that people refrain from directing people to accurate sources of help is not helping at all is it?

On other sites it is simple - dunno what you mean about hard to navigate/

You start a new thread and you will get focussed on the correct info - asked appropriate questions about your own case and advised how to proceed.
    what's difficult?
