Parking Ticket Appeals discussion

I got a ticket for stopping in red route loading bay. When I went online to pay it I realised that the issued ticket has got my vehicle registration wrong - 2 letters the wrong way round.
Can I refuse to pay it on this basis even though they may have a photo with my car & the correct registration..??
Anyone know the coup with this??
Thanks.0 -

Hi
I’ve been reading the parking discussion and success and failures threads over the past few weeks with a view to getting feedback on our article and seeing how MoneySavers are getting on with their appeals.
Whilst I want to thank those that are helping others by answering questions on our forum, can I please ask that you stop trying to drive (pun intended) MoneySavers away to the Pepipoo website, and this includes sending PMs to other users.
We appreciate that there are other forums available to discuss parking issues but if you want to discuss parking on MSE please do so on MSE, in order that we can help both existing and future MoneySavers wanting to appeal their parking tickets.
Thanks
Wendy

Those requiring information about parking tickets need (and deserve) the best advice available irrespective of where it comes from.
Any withholding of such information can easily result in people being unnecessarily ripped off by councils and private parking companies.
Surely it would be preferable if all involved were to co-operate rather than go down the negative route of rivalry / self interest / censorship.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I agree completely. More publicity the better and I hope it can start to work.
Unfortunately not the case at the moment - with the biggest problem being this messy single thread. That's up to Mods to sort and force the issue if need be.
Just one problem - maybe i'm being dumb here. Ican't see a link from this thread back to the forum it is listed in - so obviously makes it hard for anyone who actually wants to start their own thread for their own case.
As i said I may be being dumb on that though.

I'll help people on any forum whenever i have the time. That said, it shouldn't prevent referring them elsewhere when it becomes apparent that is best for them. i'll give some examples:_
On one forum i find the culture fails to get new posters focussed on relevant issues quickly. i still help there but it get's very frustrating if you are the only one explaining what is needed and nobody is backing you up.
On the 'unmentionable' forum - the opposite is true and people work together to get the basics sorted early. Really obvious example that many new posters don't seem to think of mentioning initially - What Council???
A good reason to refer people might be:-
That you know someone on another forum who has particular expertise/experience in a certain similar situation.
Or - there happens to be a very similar thread there already with similar circumstances with the same Council.
It just makes sense.
likewise, as someone said here earlier - people will get referred here for the particular areas of expertise that MSE forums have.

That is the problem, NeilB. No one knows what to post when they have a parking issue. They don't know that if someone is going to help, they need to know if it's a private ticket or a council one or a police one, which council, which PPC, what the contravention was, what the signs said, what the ticket said, etc, etc. It's all too woolly. And not helped by the members , who have no intention of advising (presumably because they have no knowledge of parking issues), but just insist on saying, "you did the crime, so just pay up".
Anyone who posts on here with a problem needs proper advice, and while it's not available on here, why not point them in the direction of a site that CAN assist? That's perfectly acceptable on other forums - dealing with debt, insurance, benefits, etc.0 -
I have to agree with the last few comments. Neil B and others on the unmentionable site have helped me no end on a couple of tickets that I received that were wrongly issued, and to do this you have to post all of the ticket up. These are the real experts, it's all well and good posters on here "presuming" to know the law, the guys from the other forum "DO". They have spent years doing it, have been to court, taken the knocks, learnt the ways of the adjudicators and the counsels tricks. This is only a fledgling thread with no real knowledge, although it is great that MSE is getting involved. What needs to be done is for Martin and this team to visit the other forum and see that this site is really out of its depth in all of this, and could be doing more harm than good. What tosh it is to forbid people from mentioning other helpful forums that obviously have greater knowledge than is available on here, what's the matter, don't like the spotlight being taken away from you? My advise, go to the other forum if you are serious about fighting councils with their unlawful signs and invalid tickets, and private companies from illegally fleecing the innocent motorist, just remember it might be your loved one on the receiving end of these gestapo type thugs one day.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

To get the ball rolling as an experiment>>>
I will do my very best to help the first person, in receipt of a Council PCN who does the following:-
(however that might include the advice that you have no case!)
Starts a new thread.
Gives a brief description of the circumstances.
Shows images of the whole of the PCN.
Shows images of any other correspondence that has been exchanged.
Gives a general indication of how far they wish to take the matter.
If appropriate, or when asked, shows images of all signs and road markings at the location.
(I'm presuming of course that there is some way to post images here? I usually prefer to recommend 'tinypic' cos easy and you don't have to register - even an IT numpty like me managed it!)0 -
Further to Neils post erase all identifying features on paperwork, barcode, name ,address and reg number.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
