Basically the rules for loading bays are: Loading and unloading must be seen as a continuous process.

That may be the 'rules' imposed by Councils but is nowhere in Statute. You can't 'see' someone undertaking ancillary tasks nearby.

In certain parts of Westminster the signs are not clear enough, they overlap...yet have no interest in correcting this, so people like me who were not aware contest it and get bigger fines at the end of it all !!

How do you get a bigger 'fine' (i'm sure you meant penalty) by appealing?

By "forum index listing" I meant the screen that gives a list of the threads on a particular forum.
For example, this is what I meant by the Motoring & Public Transport forum index listing, where you can click on "Forum Tools" to discover a dropdown list with "Post a New Thread" on it.

Sorry to have wandered so far off topic.

You're not off topic at all and very useful. Problem is the Mods - of which it says above there are none but then there is suddenly wendy? - need to force it to get this mess in order.

Don't understand why my last post was "edited out". Was it because I mentioned Pepipoo???
Suggested it before and I'll say it again....

Pepipoo is the place to go. They know far more than anyone on here.

For some reason, mentioning helpful free forums is NOT allowed on MSE!!!

Dunno why. But hey ho, you watch, this post will disappear shortly.

Not really worth the effort posting to try to help anyone on here if it's going to "disappear".....

    On the nose!

I recently got a parking ticket, the place I was parked, had no parking

restrictions what so ever, lots of other cars parked in a line also.

We all got tickets from a police man claiming we were causing an obstruction,

    which was a complete lie.

Anyway on peoples advice, I went to court and appealed against the ticket.

I had to win, I though, I had photos taken on the day,

Anyway I put a report together and sent it to the court, ( I could not attend on the day because of work reasons)

What did I get, a £270 fine payable within 30 days.

They must think I rich (Im not, no Christmas presents for my kids this year

any donations, to help pay it ? )

    Well thats justice for you

So I lost, the most it should be is ' the orginal fine, plus costs'

How can they justify over 6x the original fine.

Makes me feel very annoyed towards the police and court system.

Challenging an FPN issued under older criminal legislation only leaves the option of Mags Court as for you. Always risky but to not appear is virtual suicide if you've insisted on taking it there. they are just gonna be offended aren't they! Did you try to reschedule?

If you don't pay it, the issuer (Council or PPC) will make an enquiry to the DVLA to get the registered keeper details. If the incorrect number they recorded exists, some other person will get a letter, and if it doesn't exist, they will chuck it in the bin. So don't pay, chances are you will hear no more about it.

Phew. Another releif. More sensible advice.

Yes it would, but it's what's on the PCN that matters and that can't be changed nor can a new corrected PCN be issued

    - and another correct one!

    Ok - just to conclude.

    Netiquette!

In most circumstances what i've just done would be considered 'spamming' to promote another site - not that i recall actually mentioning it myself.

Point is, as far as this single thread on a forum has been organised - it is not so much no help as the opposite - more likely to harm.

i don't doubt MSE is a great site overall - but this is seriously out of your depth and people are being misled and misadvised.

All of the good advice i highlighted above - was from members of the 'other' unmentionable site.

Let's just be clear. I have no vested interest in that forum and no permission from the site owners to say any of this - BUT - quite simply, to all listening, if you really want to succesfully challenge various types of parking ticket (which haven't even been defined here yet) then that site is the definitive place to go.

Maybe this one will progress - but it will take a lot better organisation.
