Does anything have a sample of what a CPZ sign should look like?

Go to http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/Signsandmarkings/index.htm click on Download 'Information Signs' and the CPZ is the first one.

Thanks for that. Another question, can these cross LA boundaries? There is one of these on the A6 just south of Stockport town centre but none that we've seen on the way in to Manchester itself. Certainly there are ways you can get in to Manchester where she was parked that don't involve passing one of these signs and I have a feeling there are 'end' signs before you reach the Stockport / Manchester border anyway...

I wouldn't have thought it could cross borders for local authorities. I would imagine the neighbouring Authority has their own CPZ, which coincidentally runs next to the first one.

If there is a route into where she was parked which doesn't involve passing a sign then appeal (obviously saying that she came from that direction !).

Anyway, presumably if the vote today goes 'yes', people will stop driving into Manchester :rotfl:

(rejected - good ! Wish Ken had given Londoners a vote)

  • Main question before we go in to this in any more detail - as this was about 2 years back and she paid the ticket after her appeal was rejected by the council, is there anything we can do about it now?

I have to agree with the last few comments.

Neil B and others on the unmentionable site have helped me no end on a couple of tickets that I received that were wrongly issued, and to do this you have to post all of the ticket up.

    These are the real experts,

    Spot on stoneman.

I find it marginally absurd that the best place to go (in my, and many, many others opinions) has been 'censored' out, when the best, MONEY SAVING ADVICE is to go to the place offering FREE advice with the most amount of EXPERTS in a specific field to help you with your PCN. It's all they do.

It's not about getting you off justified parking tickets (although i'm sure that some of you would think it was entirely justified for me to be hit with a £120 fine for a slight error on a visitors scratch permit). It's not about helping those that happily flout the law.

It requires you to make an effort and post all of your paperwork and information you have.

And often you have to deal with protracted correspondence with councils who make it difficult and time consuming to appeal in the hope you go away. It might involve more time and effort than it is worth it for you financially - work out your hourly wage! It's more about the principal.

I absolutely applaud MSE for raising the issue and making a noise as the sheer number of people and clout this site has means you could actually enable the government to sit up and take attention. However, for individuals, do seriously consider where, at this precise moment, you will get the best advise to appeal your parking tickets, and support to help you save money for this issue. Do remember that the internet enables a lot of people to profer incorrect advice, and appear to be experts when they just should loudest.

What's even more absurd is that Pepipoo is listed under 2 categories in the sticky at the top of the forum:

So make up your mind MSE. Is Pepipoo persona non grata or not?

I am not an expert. However, unless anyone knows better, by paying the ticket she has "pleaded" guilty.

Oh well. This has all died a death hasn't it! What a farce.

I'm really surprised given the apparent number of viewers?

Question to all. Is it that you honestly don't believe that various 'parking tickets' can't be challenged successfully? I'm intrigued.
A few people here help on other forums and we know the success rate! We indicated we were happy to help here and only refer people elsewhwere if appropriate.
Along the way there have been some interruptions but, whatever else, very few taking up the offer of free help? Just bemused frankly.

Opinions welcome - well most anyway - not the daft, judgemental pious ones that are so frequent, lol.

Yeah, an obvious start would be to separate this from general motoring which mainly concentrate on maintenance issues. That said, if you are not going to use the resource then you can't expect the site owners to organise that to start with.

Was it not yourself Neil, that suggested everybody start a new thread for every problem. ? Would this not lead to the site getting full of threads with perhaps two or three messages on them ?

Surely an easier way would be if somebody wants to respond to help someone else, quote the original message (at least the relevant part) so we can follow it through.

I think it's easier if people wanting help with individual cases post a new thread on the Motoring Board, otherwise it becomes very tricky to keep track of queries, even if people do quote the message being replied to.

Parking tickets are often able to be appealed successfully, however this relies on the front and back of all paperwork being scanned in (with personal details blanked out of course) and included in the new thread (click here for sra's guide on posting pictures). :)
