    Evening peeps,

had a very busy day today, got back from Sainsburys with Dad and then dropped him off at home at about half past three and then i started in the kitchen. I went mad in Sainsburys i`m afraid but i picked up so many bargains so it wasn`t all bad, the sirloin steak is half price atm so that`s another meal sorted. :j

Tonights dinner was changed at the last minute as i was a little bit rushed so we had a beef curry that i started off yesterday with spicy pilau rice and garlic and coriander naan so a very warming meal. We can have the gammon tomorrow.

I`ve finished off the marmalade and it`s the best yet! i am soooo pleased with it, it should get better when it`s been stood a while too and the ginger in it is really yummy. I ran out of jars so there is some to eat soon in a big jug in the fridge, it won`t last long once Mr Sunnyday finds it

I`ve just made parkin and bonfire toffee too but the toffee probably won`t be set in time to eat it tonight but i shall take some of the parkin for the lovely old man who walks around the park with his dog at night time, i`m not sure if he will be out tonight with all the fireworks but i shall be walking ours as normal because they`re not bothered. A lot of the big loud fireworks have finished now and it`s the smaller less noisy ones that are going off so maybe we shall see some of the regular walkers.

Betheebee - Happy Birthday :bdaycake: hope that you had a wonderful day!

((((Hugs)))) For you Mrs_Mix, hope that you feel better soon, ((((Hugs)))) for you too Diva, good to hear that your knees arn`t as painful now.

Pink - I am so sorry to hear the news about your DS, big gentle ((((HUGS)))) for you both!

Catznine - I hope that you manage to get some sleep tonight.

Lamewolf & MrsMW - I think that both of you need hugs too!

I`m off to wrap up warm now to walk the monsters, have a good night all.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    ((((hugs)))) VickyA

I have just hauled 6 frozen bananas out of the depths of the freezer and made 2 loaves banana bread and 12 banana and choc chip muffins. I will freeze some for later, when they have cooled down.

The fish pie was lovely, I used up a "chicken tonight" peppercorn sauce that dh had bought in to put the cooked and flaked pollack and shrimps in, mash on top of that. It made a very spicy, tasty fish pie. Plenty left for tomorrow but I might freeze some for another day.

After having a good old bark at the neighbours fireworks, Penny has made herself scarce and hidden away upstairs on dd's bed! I think she blames us for all the noise! She is not too keen on the noise of the bp monitor going off every 1/2 hour either. Funny how it seems to be us in the "doghouse":rotfl:

Gentle hugs to Mrs Mix, Diva,Pink winged and her son,Lame Wolf and Mrs MW as well as Penny pincher.

Had an exciting day as DH's company car got collected and a new one arrived and then took DD(23) to get her a winter coat and new jeans as she looked so cold when she got home last night in her thin summer jacket.

Have an opticians appointment tomorrow for her and will pay for glasses if she needs them and also offer to get her good, waterproof boots or shoes so she is set up for the winter. Trying to get everything done before she goes back to work in Oxford in a few days. So pleased to have her home!

Made egg and chips for tea in the Remoska and still have soup left from yesterday in the fridge. The home made bread, rolls and scones have nearly all been scoffed already.

DD(14) is at a bonfire with a friend and her big sister is not far away if she is needed so I can browse on here with a cup of coffee.

Could you microwave the veg for a few mins so they go soft so they would be easier to cut? Sorry if this is a stupid idea.

Hugs to everybody and see you later

Evening all:D Very late post from me and I'm afraid I have speed read:o I've been so rushed the last couple of days I forgot to give my Dad his Wednesday phone call. Cue a big telling off for me when I got back an hour ago, oh dearicon9.gif

Pink, sorry to hear that news about DS, a rotten blow when you least expected it. (((Hugs)))) to all.

mrs mix, sorry you're still so poorly, hope you get better soon.

VickyA, that's a shame about your Mum. Sending positive vibes for a good end result.

Bethebee, rather late but Happy Birthday:beer: Hope it's been a good one.

I sort of tried a meal plan for this week. Three days in and we haven't had one thing as planned:o :rotfl: I just think I don't lead the sort of life that takes to planning very well. I'm always changing things at the last moment, and my extended family frequently want me to do things at short notice:D I just hope the butternut squash soup that was defrosted on Monday can hold out until tomorrow's lunch. A good boil should ensure it's OK, right?;) Oooops just remembered, I'm out for lunch tomorrow with ivyleaf, so DH can have the soup on his own. No worries there, he's got a cast iron stomach:rotfl: There goes the beep for the BM, see I timed that just right:D

    Night all CM x

taplady, sorry for DS1's bad news. I think there will be a lot of redundancies in the current climate. Thank goodness for Mum and Dad eh? Hoping he finds something else quickly, and hugs to all

    evening!

just had some bad news, DS1 has been made redundant as of the end of this week. He will have to move back home from his lodgings and start job hunting - not easy with the way things are at the moment.
He has applied to various radio stations and one in Warwick seem interested but its quite a long way from here.
I'll try not to worry too much.

VickyA - sorry to hear your Mums test results were not good. (((hugs))) to both of you x

Thriftlady - thanks for the recipe

That is so freaky - Churchmouse's comment came before Taplady's news about her DS1!!!

Thanks for all the ideas for the salmon - have cut it into steaks & frozen them singly. It was such a bargain that I couldn't walk past it at that price!

Think it will be fish pie on Sunday - we usually have prawn butties for lunch when the England rugby team are playing, which will be on Saturday (but OH's h/m marie-rose sauce stains white rugby shirts ) so will stash some prawns away to add to it & will pick up some white fish on Saturday.

Have picked up some y/s blackberries to add to the hoard of strawberries, will freeze & make jam at the weekend (if I can find enough jam-pot covers......anyone know anywhere that sells them apart from Lakeland?).

Sorry to hear about your mum VickyA - at least she won't have long to wait.
Pink - hope your DS picks up soon, biopsies aren't fun.
LW - hope your paws feel better soon - did you get your CAMRA post? Ours came on Monday with some vouchers for Wetherspoons too ;)

Am off to bed to read my book, night all.
