after being told i was due to £1400+ back from Mtge Protection i have.

Complain big time and to the MoJ.

If you were due money back then you dont need the services of a claims company. Most MPPI plans are set up correctly and you are not "entitled" to anything back. Those that are not set up correctly are easy to do yourself although if you then go on to employ a claims company that is your choice. However, for a claims company to tell you that you have money due is wrong.
To cut a long story short they won't let me cancel even though nothing has been signed by me they need some sort of pack back which i still haven't received with a covering letter.

I dont know but would the distance marketing rules apply here? - hoping someone that knows those will pick up and verify or not.... if they do then you have to have a right to cancel.

Most mortgage PPI plans are perfectly fine. They are usually set up monthly and under advice. Only really the single premium mortgage ones have an issue.

So, unless yours was single premium MPPI, they really misrepresented the information.

Next step is a soliciters letter, im not giving up till I get the money back that they stole from me, will let you know what happens.

  • Right, first thing to mention is that 1st Line Services are no longer trading. The business was wound up prior to Christmas 09 and therefore, I don’t believe it’s worthwhile calling them on their Customer Services 08717 167811 number (and they never answered it in any case). They did have a so-called ‘call-back’ service, but unless you were very lucky, I doubt you received a call from them.

This whole saga has been very disappointing and I’m gutted for all of those who have been poorly treated by 1st Line, particularly in these bleak economic times. Certainly, their dealings with me has been disgraceful and I feel hugely let down by a company I had a right to expect would treat me, as a customer, with respect. Despite a relatively low investment, I only wished I’d listened to the alarm bells that were clanging away when I had an unsolicited call from Laura (using her own mobile phone in convincing me that I should get in on this win-win scheme).

In fairness to me (and to many others), I actually did some investigatory work on 1st Line and from that it transpired that 1st Line services were a ‘cocher’ company and indeed, they were registered with the Ministry of Justice (CRM 14628). Even more ‘encouraging was that they had some successes (good for those who were on the receiving some of some cash) and it’s these that make it very difficult to sort out the real chaff from the weeds.

If you are reading this thread then chances are you’ve got some money tied up with First Line. First option for those who were trying to reclaim some PPI payments is to call a company called ‘We Claim U Gain’ on 01792-311565 as 1st Line sometimes passed PPI work to them to undertake. Give them a ring and mention that you’ve a PPI claim with 1st Line and did they pass it to them. If so, good luck.

If you have a mortgage or loan type claim lodged with 1st Line, I’m afraid things are not so ‘rosy’. There might be a couple of options for you to get your money back though. First, you can take out a court case against 1st Line, but hey, this is going to be expensive for you. Secondly, depending on who you bank with you might like to try something known as ‘Chargeback’ – this is like an insurance on your card. Speak to your bank and find out whether they do this and if so, you might be able to retrieve your outlay.

1st Line is not off the hook though and they will be investigated by the Ministry of Justice so that’s a good thing. I only hope that the so called ‘management board’ are not permitted to trade again until they have sorted out the problems and failures from this unsuccessful venture. A courtesy letter informing the Company’s clients of the winding up would have been appropriate as would some advice about reclaiming customers investments – but alas, in line with their customer engagement plan, this was never going to be the case. I did hear from Lyn (ne) though, in December, promising to send me my documents the very next day (that was in response to a number of vociferous e-mails I sent). Yeah, sure……guess what…..never happened ……a delaying tactic perhaps?

Bottom line is that you can check, re-check and check again, but sometimes company’s like 1st Line can get through the hoop – there are some really professional companies out there doing a similar job but the image created by company’s such as 1st Line will reduce the trust that the public have in the Claim business.
  • IF YOU REALLY ARE THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF FIRST lINE, THEN WHY HAVE YOU NOT RESPONDED TO MY COMPLAINT EMAIL ABOUT 12MTHS AGO, WHICH I SENT PERSONALLY TO YOU.

I unfortunately fell hook line and sinker, and unlike everyone else who only seems to have paid you £74.99 I paid you nearly £1400.00 to First Line Services i was assured i would get this back as I had a PPi worth this amount. You seemed to know everything about me and i was in an extremely vulnerable place when they contacted me, as was getting over surgery from cancer and very emotional. they promised i would get thousands back on my credit cards, and encouraged me to pay on one of the cards they would make a claim against. (you were that confident you told me to empty all my cards of any cash on them and I cant beleive this but we did this) This was in Sept 2008 and as of yet I still have Zero from anyone, you should be disgraced this is appalling that you prey on vulnverable people, I know my fault as i was stupid enough to fall for it, but we were desperate and could see no way out of the financial situation we were in. After 12mths i decided to file for an IVR but was told by Firstline if i did this i would incur legal charges from the companies whom they passed my details to. So i was completely stuck, we couldn't afford the monthly charges on the cards, but couldn't apply for IVR. I am now in a verbal agreement with my creditors who have been amazing and very patient. I am just so angry with myself for allowing myself to be drawn in by these con men.
