@ dizzydriver70
I'm somewhat confused by your posts.
Would you kindlyclarify if this is a council car-park managed by CEL on behalf of the council or a private car-park managed by CEL.0 -
Hadeon - i dont really know to be honest. i complained to town council as i thought it was a big money making scam and she told me we hadnt put the reg in correctly. But i did a search and this happened in nov and was on the news. Its civil enforcement demanding the fine which is how i ended up here. But it seems the council do have some influence so i really dont know the anser to that.0

I do.
CE do not act for Councils. They are just a PPC like all the other scammers. You will watch Watchdog tomorrow night I hope, featuring Excel and one of their car parks?! Different company but they are all the same. Also watch the other Watchdog clips, there's one in our sticky thread 'PPC letters & threats'.
Anyway it's really simple to know if a ticket is real or not:
- Fixed Penalty issued by Police = pay it.
- Penalty Charge Notice issued by Council or TFL = appeal it with pepipoo forum's help.
- Parking Charge Notice = fake rubbish, private company, ignore it.
This really is NOTHING to do with the Council unless CE are breaching planning or other consents. It is something to complain about though, once some threatograms have been collected to show the extent of the harassment. Complain with copies of the threatograms to the occupiers of the site, shops, offices there, landlord or managing agent there, the Office of Fair Trading, Trading Standards, your MP, the DVLA and the BPA (useless members' group for the scammers but complaints having to be logged is a good thing).
HTHPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Just being cautious here Coupon - I am also indeed aware that (to the best of my knowledge) CEL ' don't do' councils.
However, the confusing issue here is that there is actually a 'Riverside' car park in Bridgnorth 'operated' by Shropshire Council.
Perhaps dizzydriver70 could clarify matters as well as take a closer look at the correspondence received.0 -

Good information regarding what to look for0 -
thanks for info guys. Very helpful.
I complained to the town clerk of Bridgenorth (as at the time i didnt know how or who could help me with this) - and after making a really big deal about CE being a scam and they should look into it - she has since notified me that she has cancelled our fines. With a brief explanation that not many fines have been sent out and there was a minor hic up last year with the machines which has been resolved.
So if CE dont work for councils how has she had the autourity to cancel these fines? and they are definantly sent from Civil Enforcement Ltd.0 -
Where did the tickets specify the money had to be sent?0

This is the problem with stupidly long old threads like this one...the info is further back in this thread!
Found the answer on page 19 as I look at the thread, anyway it's post #545 onwards by stuartshepherd, and all the replies after his post.
This thread needs closing if possible. It should be readable of course - as it's a good thing if people Google and find it to read - but not able to be added to, there's a whole current forum here talking about fake PCNs like this one and it's far better to have one case, one thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

hi everyone i also have one of these from civil enforcement, now on 3rd letter from newlyn, apparently newlyn are not a nice company, i know someone from a debt help agency and newlyns are B***tards! i dont believe i over parked, if so it was 5 minutes, but it is in my husbands name even though he was not driving, i have emailed the company- whom passed it over to newlyn whom wrote ro me stating that although it is not law to divulge whom was driving the car, he is still liable, my husband is now hitting the roof saying that the baliffs are going to take everything- its a bit of a panic as to what to do!!!!!! this has been going on since last october, it was on the isle of wight!
would appriciate if anyone has actually had anything taken ,the last letter is notice prior to county court proceedings, I took advice from peeps on here to ignore- but still worried as it affects credit and so far my credits it excellent! thanks0
