Received the letter from Newlyn's as expected. Funny thing is that the envelope wasn't sealed down at all!! Anyone could and probably did read it and put it back in the envelope whilst it was on its journey to me!. Anyway i'm tempted to to stick it back down and send back as undelivered. If i get another on one i'll know what the envelope looks like!! (and send that back too!)

Now that was funny! I could draw on fold lines for them to make it their end or i could fold it for them. Its maybe the least i could do for their attempted efforts in getting money from me! It'll get them wondering how i managed to open the envelope and reseal it perfectly without damage and additional adhesive. how did i manage to know what was in it to stop me ripping open the envelope??!

im so glad im a member of this site. i went to buy a new (to me) car the other day and salesman kept on and in the end had a test drive. there was no-where to park in the showroom but was on same site as another large shop so parked there. got a notice today that i over parked for 15 or so mins - i thought it said 2 hrs but must have been an hours parking. no-one said i couldnt park there as naturally they wanted to look over mine etc. having a toddler and being 7 months pregnant means im not quick at the best of times, so getting this notice this morning brought on the tears. all of your advice stopped me from crying so im going to stand my ground and ignore, i could do without all the threats, stress and hassle though....how does this bloke keep getting away with this?
A happy wife, and mum to 2 lovely little boys :j
  • Hi new to this site but having read everyone message hoping for some help. My company had a vehicle parked in Rivergate Shoppring Centre at Irvine and we got permission from the Centre management to park there. Since then we have had a letter from Civil Enforcement Ltd saying we were parked illegally and had to pay a £60/£30 fine depending on how long we took to pay it. We sent a letter explaining that we had permission from the Centre and therefore we would not pay the fine. We then received another letter to say they could not cancel the fine but would they would extend to time limit to allow us to pay the fine. We wrote back to say we still would not be paying the fine as we followed the correct procedures. Today however we have received another letter to say that there deicsion is final and either we pay the fine or it will be forwarded to a collection agency.

Can anyone help or advise please?

Do not engage in correspondance with said company, they dont have a procedure to cancel the ticket.

Ignore all correspondances from now on.

Alternatively send them a letter with none of your details in it stating here is a cheque for the balance, post it without a stamp, so they have to pay. Write on letter "cheque enclosed". They will get it, think got another one here more money, alas inside a letter stating here is cheque but no cheque.

They have paid to receive the letter yet not made any money.
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

    PRESS THANKS

    Urban myth

If they've any sense (and I'm sure they have a bit) they will just refuse delivery of all underpaid mail. They are quite happy to lose the odd cheque from someone who sends one and neglects to put a stamp on. They just write again and the fool pays up thinking it got lost in the mail

Stop writing to them. Keep any more letters they send, but do nothing. They have not sent you a fine. They have sent you an unenforceable invoice. The collection agency they use will be bogus. They will give up and stop writing to you eventually. There is nothing they can do to damage your credit history etc.
