Any thoughts on this and where it and I should go next?.
They cannot just "register" it, they have the small matter of actually winning a case first. They rely on their victims not knowing how the county court actually works. Bailiffs can only become involved if:
1 They take you to court.
2 They win
3 You still don't pay up.
Just ignore them.0 -
Thanks people.
I am not worried at all, never have been by any of their guff, I just like to keep abreast of what BS they actually indulge in. Which is why this forum is informative.0 -

LOL, and what are the chances of that?.0 -
I received one of these Parking Contravention Enforcement Notices today from CEL and thanks to the advice given here and on PePiPoo I'll be ignoring it. However, whilst several members here have pointed out that these notices are NOT legally enforceable, I haven't seen anybody detail exactly HOW and WHY they're unenforceable.
I can't post a link but Google this and go to the first result:
"When dealing with "tickets" from private parking companies (PPCs) our advice is ignore them"

Thanks for your reply Zamzara, but when you say "Google this", Google what exactly? Google can bring up thousands of different results simply by adding, removing or changing a word.
So I say again, I'd be extremely grateful if someone could show exactly why a Court would not enforce one of these notices.0 -

Where did my earlier reply disappear to?
What I said was - thanks for the link Coblcris, but I note that it states:
"There is a great deal of doubt about the legal enforceability of private parking invoices that are issued to motorists."
So it's NOT the case that these things are legally unenforceable as previous posters have pointed out, although I do accept that there are a number of criteria they would have to satisfy to win a Court case.
Having said that I still intend to ignore the letter I've been sent and all subsequent letters, I'm sure that they work on statistics and that for every person that ignores their 'PCN's there are ten that pay up, so the likelihood of them bothering to drag a non-payer through the Courts is zero.0 -
i have had two letters one saying i had parked and left in about 2 hours near where i work, iwas still at work. the other saying pay 150 both from cel, now i have a letter form newlyn saying i need to pay 238, this was for a site in milton keynes near the hub, that one day was owned by enfield council and the next by cel.
do i keep ignoring these?0 -

Just keep ignoring, the letters you are receiving are the usual letter-chain and don't mean anything. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

And have you found this thread yet which shows you which letters to expect from PPCs:

Private tickets and the letters that follow are useful only as paper aeroplanes or bog roll. Ignore the whole scam and they give up with no effect on your credit rating or anything else.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
