I am in process of trying to claim PPI back from 3 companies all currently waiting for FOS to deal with but then today had a letter from FOS saying that one company London Scottish have gone into recievaship. They have said they are not sure how this will affect my claim but will let me know in the next 4 weeks... I just wondered if anyone had ever been in the same possition and if they could tell me what happened to there claim?

any info would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks Jules:rolleyes:

    Hi there
Do you know when they went into receivership?

If you can find out who the receivers are then maybe that is another way forward, and/or liquidators then, and also contact the FSCS, they will then check this out for you and its likely they will send you out a form to fill, they then handle this for you once investigation has completed.

    FSCS here:

I will also check out Companies house for you when I have a minute, unless someone beats me to it lol, this should confirm who is handling London Scottish now, address details etc.;)

Hi, been reading through and thought you all sound so brilliant you might be able to help me too!
I have 2 store cards and a credit card which all had ppi on until i cancelled it about a year and a half ago. i want to claim it back now as i think it was completely mis-sold-i was a student and not working when i opened them!
i've got copies of my original credit agreements sent out to me, but not a breakdown of how much ppi i paid on any of them-do i need this or do they work this out?
also, one of the store cards was a new look card when i opened it, but was taken over by G E Money, so which one should i write to?
    any help appreciated! x

    Hi clarabella

When did you take these out hun and who with at the time?

So you was a student then?

Have you checked the terms and conditions of your store cards hun?
I know being a student it really is worthless to have PPI if you have no job to cover.
My son was in this position as well being a uni student and am ongoing with this one at the moment.

    Check this link out here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Can't remember if the info on that link added mentions anything about student, but still you do have a point here.

There is also a reclaim template to help guide you but add your own reasons of why you feel you were mis sold, they have 8 weeks to respond in full.
Post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting, which can also be checked out on the "Royal mail website" tracking, this is handy to know what date they received your letter to time those 8 weeks they have.:D ;)

Let us know what they say and we shall take if from there.

Good luck and if you require further help here hun, please just yell where one of us here will be happy to help where we can.;)

  • Thank you for all your input on my PPI Settlement now-you-see-it-now-you-don't offer. As stated, I'm going to try and keep calm, speak to RBS tomorrow and get a full explanation of why the offer was sent and then retracted and update this site tomorrow night.

It's a wonderful community offering insight in an often murky and unclear area - please lets keep it going! Even if this eventually gets resolved I'm going keep lurking these boards :)

I was self employed up until last year when i had my son. I do not remember taking the Capital One PPI and the Adams Card i got from applying in store and do not remember being asked if i want protection. It was in the 6 month statement i see now they have started charging me. Also i see Capital One are being fined.
Then if you feel you have been missold these then you need to send them a letter stating that.

Just take a look at the link here and see what you can add and delete from the template letter. Its always best to do your own from this. There are lots of reason on there for the misselling so pick out the ones that are applicable to yours.

You then write to the firm that actually made the sale of the PPI to you if this is different from the lender and don't forget to send this recorded delivery so you always a proof and dates etc.

After that you have to give them 8 weeks for a full and final response. In this time it is usual to get a response of "sorry we sold this to you fairly" but you then respond to this and reiterate your complaint again. The next time they write they either give you a final response which you would need in order to take this complaint to the FOS or offer to settle.

    Good luck

"If not, there are plenty of supportive, helpful, considered, non-judgemental and experienced people on here who will gladly offer any support and assistance you need to help you and your colleagues through what can inevitably be a taxing, difficult time."

    Unless you dare question them!

Thanks for the resposne and thoughts, they are appreciated.

Just want to show that its not the fat bankers that get hit in these situations, its the people at the bottom of the line, normal working class, jsut trying to make ends meet working.

Lots of jobs could be deemed immoral, however people do them.

My point was that there is not always a valid claim, some times consenting adults agree to these policies and then when they dont feel like paying anymore or need some cash out comes the "where there is a blame there is a claim" mentality.

This is what i was trying to relay before the forum police jumped on me.

In response to how i can help asked by another member, use your noggin, i worked in the industry for 4 years, i am aware of the small prints, compliance and legal issues, where companies went wrong, sales lines that had to be ammended as they were misleading.

So i think i CAN help, so please dont assume i am on the side of the banks because that is not the case.
Yesterday you sounded like you were "slating" the PPI reclaimers on a PPI reclaiming discussion thread.

I have read and i do sympathise with people, however people do need to take some responsibilty for their actions.

Forced to take a loan is a very strong phrase to use, at times amalgamation of debt into can be beneficial, not all the time but can be a step further away from an IVA or worse.

I have no ojection to anyone joining this forum and posting whatever they like but please don't take offense when I jump back and stick up for something that I have put lots of time and effort into doing and that is helping people that have been missold.

If you have been hard done to by the bank that you worked for then I do have sympathy but last night you were making out that it was cause of the PPI reclaimers that you had lost your job....

You then went on about "my financial training" of which I have none but I did not know I needed any to help on this thread.... .

I totally agree that there are some people on this thread to purely get back something that they agreed to take at the time and knew exactly what they were doing and just want to cash in on " reclaiming" but mostly we ask what their reasons are for wanting to reclaim before giving any help.

    When you said this

oh, i also forgot to ask, this crusade against PPP, do you think of the human cost, the amount of jobs lost and will be lost as lenders are losing thousands of accounts to closure...

It was somewhat judging most people like that in my eyes. I never would tell anyone to make a claim for their PPI back without first knowing why....

Where you say you can help in the "small print, compliance and legal issues" most do not need to to go this far as this thread is really for complaints that are covered by the Ombudsman but there is a thread for PPI not covered by the Ombudsman service that may be of better interest to you. We none of us have any legal training and although you say you do then I would be very careful of stating that as some people could see that as trying to get business. I am not saying you are but some would think that.

We mainly give help to people to let them know how to make a complaint from what Martin himself has written on the PPI bit of the site and then try to help with taking this complaint to the Ombudsman.

I am very sorry that you felt "jumped" on by the "forum police" but when you are on this thread and coming out with comments like you did then please do not take offence of people bite back as they are also victims.:D

    Hi Di

The cooling off period was 14 days I thought it was 30 days, when I tried to cancel after about 25 days I was told I could cancel but I would still have to pay for the PPI as the cooling off period had past, so I didnt cancel it.

The PPI was to cover the car finance if it was written off before the finance was completed, I understood this but once I read a bit about PPI I wanted to cancel but I was past the cooling off period and when they said I'd still have to pay for it I thought I may as well keep it

In this instance would the PPI not pay out for the same reasons as detailed in the template letter such as self employed or medical reasons?
Usually a cooling off period is 14 for redundancy and sickness and up to 30 if it includes life insurance.
