    Hi clarabella

When did you take these out hun and who with at the time?

So you was a student then?

Have you checked the terms and conditions of your store cards hun?
I know being a student it really is worthless to have PPI if you have no job to cover.
My son was in this position as well being a uni student and am ongoing with this one at the moment.

    Check this link out here:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Can't remember if the info on that link added mentions anything about student, but still you do have a point here.

There is also a reclaim template to help guide you but add your own reasons of why you feel you were mis sold, they have 8 weeks to respond in full.
Post by recorded delivery for your proof of posting, which can also be checked out on the "Royal mail website" tracking, this is handy to know what date they received your letter to time those 8 weeks they have.:D ;)

Let us know what they say and we shall take if from there.

Good luck and if you require further help here hun, please just yell where one of us here will be happy to help where we can.;)

    Thanks for helping!
Just read through the initial credit agreements and all it asks is if i want the ppi, with the costs of it, but it says the customer copy is seperate. i know i definately don't have this anymore-nothing got kept when i was a student!it doesn't give any other ppi info.
The two cards i wanted to query were a dorothy perkins card and a new look card, , but i don't think new look have anything to do with G E Capital anymore who are now the people who are running the account. It DOES have the G E Capital markings and an address for them on both of the account agreements tho so would i be better writing straight to them rather then new look/dots do u reckon?

Howdy all I'm not sure how much detail I'll need to provide, but I'm hoping someone on here can give me a clue of how to proceed with my PPI reclaim as it's taken quite a nasty turn... Basically I have a Graudate loan with Natwest from 2005, with PPI that I thought was quite manhandled onto me so after reading through the site I copied the template letters from this great site in September '08 and applied the bits relevant to my circumstances in an attempt to get it back.

RBS replied fairly promptly at the start of the October saying it would reply in due course in the usual eight weeks. Eight weeks passed and on the deadline (round about the 18th November) they sent a letter back saying, whilst they thought all my points were rubbish (I'm paraphrasing, ha!) at the end they said they would be willing to make a settlement offer of £750 if I concluded the matter. I considered it and decided to accept.

I posted a reply back on Nov 21st signing the consent form and waited... Until today. December 16th I receive a letter from RBS saying " You have a capital and interest loan - the settlement offer you received was sent in error and we retract it. We unreseverdly apologize. We are in the process of recalculating such loans but unfortunately we do not have a time scale on this "

So I'm back to square one. I'm angry that three months have been a waste. I fully intend to pursue this tomorrow with the rep from RBS but please, if anyone knows how to proceed from here I'd love to hear from them
    Love Tom x

If any further detail is necessary for someone to advise, I'm happy to provide it. I just didn't want to bog this down with endless ranty detail
I would take this complaint to the Ombudsman now and see what they have to say about offer and acceptance....
  • oh, and these were the end of 2003/beginning of 2004:D

    Take them to court, simple.

A contract consists of (simply) offer, consideration and accepetance.
    This is deemed a contract
£750 = offer and consideration, you accepting this offer makes it legally binding.
    Full stop.
I would think that the Ombudsman would look into something like this...??

I am in process of trying to claim PPI back from 3 companies all currently waiting for FOS to deal with but then today had a letter from FOS saying that one company London Scottish have gone into recievaship. They have said they are not sure how this will affect my claim but will let me know in the next 4 weeks... I just wondered if anyone had ever been in the same possition and if they could tell me what happened to there claim?

any info would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks Jules:rolleyes:
Usually FOS tells you to get in touch with the FSCS in cases like this. I would wait for them to get back with further details.
  • Hi all,

Update on my situation. My account was today credited with the full amount of my claim, completed under a month, thanks to the advice on this site. I sent my first complaint letter to First Direct on 18th November 2008. I am fortunate and hope and pray for the same success to everybody here.

Wish a Merry Christmas to all.

    Hi Di

I just had a look through some paperwork , unable to find the T&C but identified it as Black Horse Motor Finance GAP insurance not PPI, guess this is a different ball game then?

Please if you can't sort this out with the RBS, call the FOS or FSA and make a BIG fuss. You have signed for it they cant retract it.
Yeah pinknico, I would kick up a fuss to with all the authorities and not involve the courts(in the first instance). I would think this is definately something that the FOS could deal with...;)

Thank you for all your input on my PPI Settlement now-you-see-it-now-you-don't offer. As stated, I'm going to try and keep calm, speak to RBS tomorrow and get a full explanation of why the offer was sent and then retracted and update this site tomorrow night.

It's a wonderful community offering insight in an often murky and unclear area - please lets keep it going! Even if this eventually gets resolved I'm going keep lurking these boards :)
Yeah let us know what they say. I would definately mention that you are taking the matter to the Ombudsman and also informing the OFT and FSA too.

    Good luck
