All my rads are quite large. The only place that wont hold its heat is the conservatory. I have 3 doubles in there, and its all open plan to the back of the house.
I'm actually quite impressed with how efficient this new system is compare to other posts I seem to be faring better.
I also cook with gas hob and oven and we have a gas shower.

    Are yours electric?

I have gas hob and electric oven and the shower is from the hot water supply.

    4 Bed detached (163 sq. m) 2 adults and 2 children

    Last week you spent:
    • £32.97 on gas
    • £15.60 on electricity
I have been trying to compare usage (kwh) against our previous house, 3 bed detached (87 sq. m) which we moved from 6 months ago.

During the summer months our elec usage is very similar but gas usage is up by 60%. During the past month or so elec is up by 18% (loads of spotlights) but gas usage is almost double

Yeah! At last I`ve found someone using more gas than me. Mines a 3 bedroom 3 storey 3 year old semi with 15 radiators and someone has been at home 24 hours a day for the last week. Roll on summer.

    • £22.51 on gas
    • £7.56 on electricity
Total you have spent on energy since starting imeasure (2 weeks ago):

This is for 5 bed detached with upto 6 (4 adults 2 Children) although only 5 at the moment but youngest son was off ill for nearly 2 weeks so gch on all day. Keeping the downstairs rooms at 20-22c.

A little disapointed with the electic usage but gas at present is nearly 1/2 of last year and elactric only up a couple of units more.
Look after the pennies and the pounds will spend themselves
  • Gas usage 29/05 - 04/09 : 29 units / 918kwh = 9.3 per day
Heating was used probly twice in this period
    04/09 - 26/11 : 37 units / 1184kwh = 14.26 per day
Heating is on every day, usually set to 18C when we want it, which is 4pm - 9pm/10pm every night.

Now its cold and has been for a week ive taken another reading. 9 units (2944 - 2954), gas meter was read at 2944 and its appeared on the bill (last quarter came to £60, which was less than I was expecting).

9 units x 32 gas conversion factor = 288 / 7 days = 41kwh per day, but the heating is on for a couple of hours in the morning now and on from 5 at night till 11, and sometimes throughout the day as need to get washing dried now.

So is 41kwh a day good for when you get frostbite when you go outside :rotfl:

I took a reading before I went to bed last night and the heating had already gone off. (set to 7C overnight).

Then took another reading before I left for work this morning. Have been experimenting with the timer and the temperature.

The heating came on at 6.30am and the temp it had to reach was 17C. At 8.15am less than 2 hours later 26Kwh had been used. This includes 2 showers.

Hit an eye watering 12 units of gas on monday when the temps dropped to
-5°C, nice and warm in the house though. Do I win a prize?:rotfl:
