    Hi all

Sorry I could not post yesterday as I went to a meeting of my local Transition Town straight after the meet and came home knackered, got cooking and went straight to bed afterward (still in case I got called in the night by the expectant mum).

First of all I want to say, Reverbe, I am gutted that you could not find us, I arrived shortly after 11 and spotted the OS group straight away, they were very visibly OSers, not sure why I say this as I could not see any pins from far away, but they had this "OS aura", can't explain, perhaps one learns to sense it after a few OS meets! I am really sorry that we did not meet with you, you must have been feeling angry and let down (reasonably so), especially after all the correspondence that we had and all the encouragement that everybody gave you to come along, if you had thought that we did not turn up!

I hope you do not give up on the meets and that you will come along to the next one. I am planning to organise a small, low key meet in Blackheath (at the Reminiscence Centre) in the next month after the woman I am working with has had her baby. Perhaps you could come to that one, it is really REALLY easy to reach by public transport, there is no charge to the centre and the tea is lovely and cheap (£0.60 per cup), homemade cakes £0.70 apiece - the atmosphere is as OS as can be. I really hope you will make it and join us next time.

I want to thank everybody for coming along and making it such a success, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day, and what a feast we had for a picnic! The picnic must be repeated in a park when the weather gets warmer and drier!

    We'll meet again....

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I like the idea suggested before about the "Keep calm and carry on badges" to wear by JammieDodger or perhaps someone knows of any badges that we can make- even a cardboard one with it written on would stop this situation happening again - mind you a nice proper badge would be a tad more stylish?
Or we could all get MSE car stickers and have a competition to see who can do the most stylish thing with them ... :rotfl:

Reverbe, please come to the next one.
you have my number, take it with you, there are still some phone boxes around.
I live in SE London, is that anywhere near you? I could meet you locally then and we could go together.
I hope you got some enjoyment from going yesterday anyway, and I'm sure you would love the Reminiscence Centre in blackheath se3.

If you're not local to me then maybe I could travel closer to you, to somewhere that you know and we could go from there to blackheath.

I feel the need to change your luck with meeting internet friends :D

Thanks folks but I am not sure I will be able to make it to the next one. They tend to be held on Saturdays and I generally have football on that day.Plus this time it was the exhibition I really wanted to see which swayed my decision along with the fixture list being favourable.

Anything in South London is by its nature very hard to get to as they dont have such a good tube system there.(Used to have an OH in Wandsworth and it was an absolute nightmare to get to. Once I'd travelled from up north to get to London, it was a whole new journey to get to Wandsworth)

Glad you all had fun like I said. It is really nice that you folks think up these meets rther than ppl just staying on the net.

For some reason I thought you lived in London
How about you arrange a Sunday meet up somewhere nearer to you and we all come and join you?

So sorry that I didn't make it to this meet! :( we have had the dreaded Noro virus and decided against sharing it!

I have been to 2 meets so far and really enjoyed meeting everyone. So sorry that you missed the group Reverbe. Wonder if next time an announcement could have gone out from the reception desk? Love the idea of the Keep calm and carry on badges!

I don't mean to be challenging but this an excuse for not coming to "Down Sarf" that I have heard so much from my colleagues (most of them live in N London as our charity works with Holloway prison) that it drives me a litte mad every time a North (or West) Londoner says so. .

We might not have the tube but we have perfectly usable trains! There is a regular service from either London Bridge, Charing Cross or Victoria to Blackheath, or there are easy ways to get to Blackheath on bus or train from Lewisham, which is even more reachable from the above mentioned Central London stations. People, some with limited mobility, have come to the meets from the outskirts of London!

However, if Saturday is inconvenient for you because of football and would prefer that we organise a meet on a Sunday (in a pub for example rather than the Cafe) we could do that, no problem! It does not even have to be in South London, if someone knows and wants to suggest an alternative venue which is more suitable please do so, I have only suggested the South London venues because these are my stomping ground. I would be happy to relinquish the responsibility to be the initiator of these meetings if someone else wants to do so!

Also, a few of us who do not work (or not work full time) are thinking of meeting up occasionally on daytime weekdays, if you are interested please let us know and if we organise one of these more informal mini-meets we can let you know. These will always be very cheap (if not even free) events, max. expenditure a cup of tea!

Bye all, I got to get down to working now!

Edited to say, sorry catznine to hear that you have been hit by the Norovirus, hope you and your family are better now. See you at the next one!

LL - it was YOUR hubby that put the salt and pepper in your bag after you said not to leave it in the lunch room as someone else might nick it! And you've ended up nicking it yourself!!!! Hahahaha :rotfl::rotfl:

I loved the meetup, so sorry that Reverbe didn't find us - were you the lady wearing a pinky/purply coat and reading a book under the portico to the left of the entrance?

I did see a lady but when she walked out and then went back I tried to smile and have a good look at her lapel but got a look and a half in return that put me off a little. If this was you I'm so sorry I wasn't brave enough to come after you.

Thankyou everyone that came along, it was sooooo lovely to meet you and I enjoyed myself so much I will definitely try to make the next one :)
