Went to the IWM this morning but didnt see anyone there who wasnt part of a family/group of older men. I was waiting outside from when I got there at 10.20 ish and then waited inside the foyer (as it started to rain about 11) until 11.30.
OH MY! I can't believe we missed you either.
I arrived late at 11.20 and they were an obvious looking bunch to find.
There wasn't anyone around at one point, then as we went to enter half of London made a queue
It was a great day IMO and lunch was like a banquet.
So organised and so much food!
I hope others enjoyed the day as much, we did say we'll be doing it again pretty soon, so couldn't have been to bad a day, could it???

Hi Guys,
I went to the exhibition and really enjoyed it. We arrived at 10 as as i scoot it gets too busy later on. We left at around 11.30 as I was really tired. Hope you had a lovely time xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Reverbe, I dont believe it, well I do believe you but you know what I mean.
ioiwe and I were at the cannons at 10.45, joined by purpleclutterbuck then icey77 and we waited under the cannons till it started to rain, so moved to the covered bit by the entrance, then Caterina came and lilaclille, we waited outside till 11.25 but no sign of you so thought you had changed your mind:( so we went in.
Can't believe we missed each other, and I had my safety pin on the whole time with the smiley face at the end of it.
Next time, we'll swap photos then I'll grab you as soon as I see you:)
I can't swap photos I'm afraid as I dont have mine taken ever but I did have a photo of Caterina but didnt see anyone who looked like that. I even wandered about a bit inside from 11.30 til 12.15 ish but then my feet really started to hurt and I was tired and by that stage tbh I was both a little angry and a little upset.
I'm not sure right now if I will ever go to a meet again because this is the 6th time in recent years I have gone to an internet meetup and nobody showed up etc. (the others were on another board and included pubs, cafes, exhibitions and even a champagne picnic in a park before an event) Aside from the time and effort it's quite a hurt financially. It took me 2 hours to get there today after getting up at the crack of dawn to get all the way into the other side of London for 11 on a weekend when most of the tube lines were shut and on top of that it cost me approximately half a weeks shopping budget in tube fares.
I am glad tho that you all seemed to have a good time and that you didnt let the gloomy weather spoil your day.:beer:What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Reverbe....sorry the day was such a let down for you....it would probably have helped if you were a gabby cow like me and approached everyone you saw who might have been MSE!
Glad that those of you who managed to meet had a good time, like JackieO I was gutted not to have been able to go...maybe next time!

Rev please please dont let it put you off
I have met people at the airport that i met online (admittedly in a game that I had been playing for a few years and have since given up the addiction i had - it was an mmorpg called world of warcraft that ruled my life for a few years I am now ashamed to admit!)
BUT- its scary meeting people for the first time, some I had never seen pics of and just assumed!
Come up and visit here, I will pick you up with flight times and numbers and be there as I am sure the others were, it was just circumstance that beggered it!
Meeting friends on line is the best way, no pre conceptions of how you look, who you are, etc, it is about you, and thats what people love! I am soooo sorry your journey cost alot and didnt work out, but please please dont give up, your posts are so greatI would love to meet you as I am sure the ones that missed you wanted to as well.
If I didnt havbe to fly to go, I would so be there! I really want to have a Scottish contingent meet up - the rule being no pics posted of me - I am just like you, I HATE my pic EVER taken!
hugs hun
and glad those that did meet had a great time

When I went to the one in Whitehall I was actually sitting at the next table in the pub to three of the folk I was to meet.I am short, round and getting on a bit, and use a pink stick to walk with It still took me awhile before one of the folk said to me are you JackieO.The a lot more people started to arrive and by the end we had a huge table of around a dozen.I'm sorry you didn't find anyone I only wish I had been there .I told everyone what I was going to wear which helped I guess.Don't give up though as the meets are really good fun and well worth it.I am really cheesed that I couldn't make it and I hope everyone had a good time and the exhibition was worth going to see.0

I am really so sorry about missing you Reverbe as I was stood under the guns at about11am and just overhead a group of people (IOIWE and Mr IOIWE and Icey77 and Annie123)chatting about safety pins and mse - we stayed there for a while introducing ourselves and then moved towards the entrance but still kept looking for other people.
Please don't decide not to come again as I found the experience very rewarding and enjoyable as well as a good laugh despite being so nervous that I just kept chatting blah blah blah and couldn't shut up(so sorry everyone I will bring my own gaffer tape next time!)
I really enjoyed meeting such a friendly, warmhearted bunch of people who are so talented especially when it comes to OS that I would urge everyone to try and have meet-ups wherever they live:T:T:T:T:TMay you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without:cool:0 -
I like the idea suggested before about the "Keep calm and carry on badges" to wear by JammieDodger or perhaps someone knows of any badges that we can make- even a cardboard one with it written on would stop this situation happening again - mind you a nice proper badge would be a tad more stylish?May you fill up the great clutterbucket of life and may all of your leaks be in cheese sauce
