  • HI,
why why why???? didnt I read this before i got sucked into any free trial, for the so called acai and colon scam......... got a call from my bank saying company tried to take nearly £128 twice out my account, they allowed the first but not the second, was to try phone company and ask for money back, dont think I have any chance of that happening......... as says its always busy.... Did get an email with invoice saying only getting charged £2.95 for postage but theyve managed to swindle an extra £125 more...

Has anyone any idea how I can get out of this as the banks authorised the first payment................
  • Ok so,I fell for this lame scam too!The number i finally got through on was 08081891129.I was on hold for about 15-20 mins but i finally got to talk to a guy in North America! He said load of rubbish about small print in the terms and conditions and aswell as the £2.95 for p&p a further £128.00 was taken out of my account for a life time subscription to their website????I told him i wasn't happy with the product i'd paid for (without knowing) at this point he offered me a refund of half the ammount.I told him that i wont accept less than the full ammount and that my statutory rights state that if i am unhappy with a product i am entitled to a FULL refund if i state within 28 days!I took his name and employee number. He has assured me that i will have a full refund within 3-5 working days and gave me a confirmation number.I have recorded all the information!Hopefully i will get my refund!Good luck!

Have a read of that site which exposes the people behind some of these scams and the extent of their criminal activity.

  • Hi everyone, I'm new here and such an idiot. I can't beleive I got caught by this. I've had a terrible day and feel really ill because of it. I am by nature cautious and read the t & t's for this-but they did not mention any repeat orders/payments. After I had completed my order I did find a paragraph saying that there would be repeats and giving the right to cancel at any time. The pills arrived today and there was no info whatsoever on the delivery note. This made me very anxious and I tried to cancel this pm ,using a uk customer support line. I tried 3 times and got message after message, passed back and forth but no actual person. At this point I freaked and phoned the bank. They were helpful but could not do anything to cancel the 2 requests for over £127.00 that had been made. And couldn't cancel any future ones either. In short I could be paying out over £250.00 per month forever. I was on the phone to them for over half an hour. She explained it was not fraud as I had willingly given my number, that they would pay the money out and after 30 days I could file a dispute. She actually phoned the company herself and searched around the websites. We found a customer service email address which I emailed to cancel the order. I then phoned , waited it out (its an 080 number which I hope really is a uk number) and after 14 minutes got through to an actual person, cancelled the order, was told I didn't need to return the free samples ( I had the acai and the cleanse), was told they don't send email confirmations and that no oney would be taken from my account. I was given two 7 digit cancellation numbers and got her name and supervisor number. I waited a couple of hours, phoned the bank again who deleted the requests ( on my word as they obviously did not have anything from the company) but said the company could put them in again. I've read above that they have taken money even after cancellation. Does anyone have an update,or any further advise. I am on the bones of my backside financially already and am now totally terrified.
Any advice so very much appreciated,
p.s first time to bank she said cancelling the card might work but might not-and the only way is to close my bank account !!!
  • miss tickle

I am going through the exact same thing, have been crying all day. the chap I spoke to was very nice, did not even query my cancellation, I asked how much I was going to be refunded and he said the full 199$. I am praying that happens cos like you money is very tight.
please let me know if you get any kind of refund
    good luck

  • Ok, so I have just been caught out too!!! My account has been debited with 2 X£75 and 2 x£37.50 making a total of £225 which I could have done without as I am going on holiday shortly. I have managed to contact these people and apparently my account has now been closed and no further money should be taken, however I have just spoken to my bank and asked for new bank cards. I am also going to write to my banks visa dispute team to see if I can get any of this money back. I was most annoyed by the fact that the people on the phone seem to be unable to understand that they have put my bank account into difficulties due to what they have just done!!!

Please be very careful of anyone offering free trials of Proaction Acai, Pro Cleanse, Proaction Cleanse and Hoodia where you only pay a portion of the delivery charge. IT CAN WORK OUT TO BE A VERY EXPENSIVE MISTAKE!!!
  • Finally the FTC is taking some action against these acai scams:

The Federal Trade Commission is requesting federal courts to temporarily halt the allegedly deceptive tactics of 10 operations using fake news websites to market acai berry weight-loss products. The FTC seeks to permanently stop this misleading practice and has asked courts to freeze the operations’ assets pending trial.
