Acai scams still being advertised online, eg this ad:

    8b984fe28588bc51ce535bff64ef7478.jpg

Goes to fake news website consumernews28.com/uk-diet/

If you get an ad at the side of your FaceBook page that links to this (healthcastle etc) use the X button to remove it. It gives you the option of saying why you don't want these ads. I pasted in the link to this forum and advised FB that the product and company are frauds.

Let's see if FB have any ethics, shall we?

Cleanse your colon people, I learned in my nutrition class that unless you keep to a taking in plenty of water and fibre in your diet, you will have bits of unpassed digested food in there, especially if you eat a lot of red meat as the human digestive system is not biologically designed to process it.

    Keep it clean.

As for those awful sidebar ads or pop-up windows offering free trials of this that and the other....DON'T DO IT!
This post was brought to you from the vortex of a human psyche, it was approved by my poor judgement. :T
  • We've rec'd the pills, with just a marketing leaflet in it. No reminders or cancellation details. I had sent an email via the original site on Friday Night to cancel, but not heard anything. So will email Pure Slim Ltd., who are the people who have actually sent us the pills.

Enquiring with Trading Standards over legalities, as Pure Slim is a UK registered and based company, and I would have thought they would have to comply with UK legislation, although I have seen another site of their's which states about the future payments.

Unable to get a reply from Skyway Media so far :(

    Keep you posted

  • Trading standards advise that so long as the terms and conditions are somewhere on the website its ok not to draw attention to them at point of purchase!!

Written to Data Protection re card details etc.

Got email from Pure Slim acknowledging our desire to cancel, so will now ask for a returns number, then send them pills back, still got 10 days of trial left. As I cancelled the card I may not know if they try to debit me again, but from what I've seen Pure Slim, do seem to comply with the law, albeit right on the edge!!

You would have to call the card company and they could put a stop on the transaction. I always try to avoid anything with the Acai Berry stuff, it all seems like one big scam.

And i'm another one that fell for it. I purchased the "trial" in November where you only paid p&p @ £.249. I cancelled the membership straight away and although I still had to enter debit card details for the p&p, I knew they wouldn't be able to continue taking the payments as the card was due to expire at the end of November (after my 14 day cancellation period).

    I was wrong!!

According to my bank, they can continue to claim payments under the visa debit guarantee and they did, £75.00 on the 6/12/10 and £79.95 on the 20/12/10 Because I had received a further 2 bottles of each product I was advised by my bank to return them by special delivery with a letter stating that I was pursuing a chargeback claim via my bank. I did.

The company phoned me today!!! The number I was called from was 01276682013 (I have caller display :) )

The gentleman on the phone advised me he was going to send me a cheque but couldn't because I'd already started chargeback proceedings and the bank would prceed with them either way. He also told me they'd taken another payment of £79.95 on the 19/1/11!!!!

Not a happy bunny, I just phoned my bank, First Direct. I cannot fault them. Although they said they were waiting for my authorisation on chargeback and he could have sent me a cheque, they have been really helpful and areclaiming back all my payments. The company has 60 days to pursue this and try and get the money back off me.

The Acai rep, told me that the original payment of £2.49 is just for postage and if you keep the original package of pills you get charged £75.00. So it is NOT a trial for just the cost of postage as advertised. He also told me they have no email from me cancelling the account (surprise surprise) but has now confirmed cancellation.

    we will see......

The address I used to return the items and from which the phone call was generated was:

  • in how this pans out. Please let us know if you get the full £75's back, and how quick. I cancelled my card immediately so never got billed again, and I checked online banking too. i also sent email cancelling and got a reply in about 4-5 days so all in all like I said its not illegal but does sail close to the wind!

    Cheers
  • I fell for this scam - having recieved my free trial for acai berrys i did not recieve the Colon Cleanse, just checked my bank and they've taken P&P and 2 payments of £62.34. I phoned my bank and cancelled my credit card as soon as realised it was a scam on the 27.1.11, which was the day they took the funds. I'm hoping this will be the end of it? Is there any way I can get my money back?

I did try to phone the numbers and email given but low in behold the numbers are not regonised and email bounced back. The name that appears on my statement is Better Health and invoice has come from Linlithgow.

    Ive learnt my lesson ;-(
