    something like 13xxkbps

interestingly just ran broadband speed checker and it says my download speeds are currently 928kbps yet the router is reporting the 5125kbps... but surfing seems faster certainly on this site anyway

Your extension wiring sounds suspect. Sometimes burglar alarm cable is used which is no good for broadband!

Thanks, I wonder if the plate (not the iplate) mentioned in this thread would help by isolating the ADSL wires... we dont have an alarm but there is wiring around the house for when we do... we also have 6 extensions around the house... they go mad in new builds

Well you now know that you can sync at 5125kbps, so an XTE-2005 filtered faceplate is likely to work for you.

Thanks for your help, does the XTE 2005 actually split the adsl cables or connection, I am sure when I was looking around last night I noticed one that seemed to seperate cables?

It's an ADSL filter providing an ADSL socket and a phone socket. Any extensions are wired to the reverse as before.

I've taken off the main socket for my house.

There are only 2 wires from the main wire attached to the main socket.
    Blue & orange

There are two wires that are not attached
    Green and brown

But from this main socket the wire that goes to the socket into the other room, from which I attach my router, has 6 wires - but none of them yellow and white!

Do I not have a bell wire? Anything I can do to speed up my rather slow broadband?

    Thanks

The bell wire goes between the master socket and the extensions.
In your case leave the wires to pins 2 and 5 connected and remove the other four.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Hello

I'm a little confused by this.

    Can you please explain.

Should I leave the two wires coming off the street to the main socket, and remove wires coming from the main socket to the other socket in my house?

I don't see an orange and white wire, but there is an orange wire.

    Thanks
